Print, Copy and Scan (PCAS)

You can use Print, Copy, Scan (PCAS) facilities in the Bodleian Old Library to print, photocopy and scan and pay with your PCAS account. PCAS machines are available on the first-floor landing at the north end of the Lower Reading Room, and in the Upper Reading Room near the self-collect shelves. Find out more about PCAS and how to manage your account.

Connect to library Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available throughout the library. The Bodleian Libraries offer several Wi-Fi networks, including ‘Bodleian-Libraries’ for University and Bodleian Reader card holders, and ‘eduroam’ for members of educational institutions. Find out more about how to connect.

Use library computers

Bodleian Libraries PCs are available throughout the Lower Reading Room, Upper Reading Room and Duke Humfrey's Library. Additional computers may be available in the Computer Room (off the Theology Room). The Computer Room closes half an hour before the closure of the library, and may close at short notice for training or other library purposes. Find out more about using library PCs.

Request or reserve items

The Bodleian Libraries hold around 8 million items in off-site storage. Items can be ordered from the Book Storage Facility (BSF) and delivered to the Bodleian Old Library for you to consult. Find out more about how to place stack requests via SOLO.

Self Collect

Our Self Collect service allows readers to order offsite material to a Self Collect point and collect these items for reference-only use themselves, rather than consulting library staff. If you wish to request material not held on open shelves to the reading rooms, you can request this to 'Bod Lower RR Self-Collect' or 'Bod Upper RR Self-Collect' via SOLO. Find out more about the Self Collect service

Induction sessions

Library staff in the Bodleian Old Library are happy to provide introductory sessions for new library users. The session can be an orientation tour of the Bodleian Old Library and its humanities collections, or an introduction to finding and accessing print and electronic resources using our main resource discovery tool, SOLO, and other tools. Contact us to find out more.

Film viewing facilities

DVDs and video cassettes held in closed access can be requested to the Upper Reading Room, where media equipment is available. Please ask staff for help using this equipment.

Microform equipment

Microfilm and microfiche readers can be found at the start of the English collections in the centre of the Upper Reading Room. This includes one digital microfilm reader. Scans from the digital reader can be saved to memory stick and from there printed using Print, Copy and Scan (PCAS).
