The disastrous Melbourne run of Sunset Boulevard helped cause a breakdown in the relationship of Opera Australia’s chief executive and its artistic director, who resigned on Friday after just nine months in the job.

Opera Australia’s co-production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, starring his ex-wife Sarah Brightman, was overseen by OA chief executive Fiona Allan before the arrival of Jo Davies as artistic director last November.
