The Rail Clearways Programme was conceived in 2004 with the aim of easing congestion of Sydney's suburban railway network, by reducing the amount of infrastructure shared by multiple services. The disparate projects at pinch points throughout the network were designed to increase passenger capacity and improve reliability. All projects were delivered by the Transport Construction Authority until it was subsumed in November 2011 by Transport for New South Wales. A new timetable was introduced in October 2013 that realised the benefit of many of the projects, and by January 2014—the programme was complete.

The Bankstown Line was a commuter rail line operated by Sydney Trains in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It previously served Bankstown, Lidcombe and Liverpool. The Main Suburban railway line was the physical railway line which carried the section of the Inner West & Liverpool Line between Redfern and Lidcombe, followed by the Main South railway line between Lidcombe and Liverpool. On 30 September 2024, a significant portion of the line closed between Bankstown and Sydenham as part of conversion works to facilitate the extension of the Sydney Metro's North West & Bankstown Line along the existing rail corridor to Bankstown. The Bankstown-Sydenham section of the line will thus operate under the Sydney Metro network upon its re-opening in 2025.

It was previously served by the Sydney Trains T3 Bankstown Line which closed on 30 September 2024 as part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project to convert it to metro standards. Bankstown will become the terminus of the Metro North West & Bankstown Line in late 2025.

It was designed and built by NSW Government Railways from 1895 to 1937. It is also known as Belmore Railway Station Group and Burwood Road. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. The station was previously served by Sydney Trains T3 Bankstown line services and closed on 30 September 2024 as part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project where it will be converted to metro services.

Metrobus is a high frequency, high capacity bus network in Sydney, Australia, first introduced in 2008. Metrobus services run every 10 minutes during peak periods, 15 minutes during off-peak weekday periods, and 20 minutes on weekends, linking key commercial suburbs and centres throughout the city, with the intention of making timetables obsolete. All buses were initially painted in a distinctive red livery but recently, the standard Transport for NSW livery of blue and white has been adopted. All Metrobus services are wheelchair accessible. All route numbers were prefixed with an "M" followed by a two-digit number.
Kellyville railway station is an elevated station on the Metro North West & Bankstown Line, as part of the Sydney Metro network. The station was built by Impregilo-Salini and Metro Trains Sydney for Transport for NSW, and is situated along Samantha Riley Drive, Kellyville, in Sydney, Australia. Train services from the station run to Tallawong and Sydenham, with a journey time to Chatswood of around 33 minutes and to Sydenham in around 56 minutes. As the New South Wales Government's Sydney's Rail Future strategy is delivered over the next 20 years, services have been extended to the Sydney central business district (CBD) and towards Bankstown in late 2025. Kellyville Station opened on 26 May 2019 as part of the Sydney Metro Northwest line from Chatswood to Tallawong, which has since been extended down towards Sydenham via the City.

The Leppington & Inner West Line is a commuter rail service currently operated by Sydney Trains, serving the inner west and south-western regions of Sydney, Australia. Consisting of 37 stops, the service commences from the City Circle, then heads west to Granville. The line branches at this point; services either head northwest to Parramatta or south to Leppington. A third terminus at Homebush is used when the part-time Parramatta branch is not operating. The line commenced operations on 26 November 2017, replacing the T2 Airport, Inner West & South Line.

The project will extend the Metro North West & Bankstown Line from Chatswood on the North Shore, to Bankstown in the city's southwest via the Sydney central business district. The line is part of the Sydney Metro network and its first phase, Sydney Metro City, opened on 19 August 2024.
