Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) is a set of international open standards for digital television. DVB standards are maintained by the DVB Project, an international industry consortium, and are published by a Joint Technical Committee (JTC) of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Television broadcasts in the United Kingdom began in 1932, however, regular broadcasts would only begin four years later. Polvision is a Polish-language television station broadcasting in Chicago. Established in 1987, it is targeted towards the Chicago Polonia. From its inception Polvision was and still remains the only Polish language television program available free to the public, currently on the open digital channel 24.4 and Comcast 397, for the Polish Americans in the Chicago area.
