The Fader is a magazine established in 1999 as an outlet for Cornerstone Agency, [1] a marketing and public relations firm established by Rob Stone and Jon Cohen. [2] The magazine covers music, style and culture. [3]
It is owned by The Fader Media group, which also includes its website, thefader.com, as well as Fader films, Fader Label and Fader TV. It was the first print publication to be released on iTunes. [4]
The magazine hosts the Fader Fort, an annual invitation-only event at Austin, Texas's South by Southwest (SXSW). [5] Since its founding in 2001, the four-day party features live performances. Fader Fort NYC is a party produced during the annual CMJ Music Marathon. [6] [7]
In 2023, the magazine announced FADER and Friends Vol. 1, a collection of 44 cover songs from 44 artists, to raise money for trans rights organisations. [8]
Doolittle is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band Pixies, released on April 17, 1989, on 4AD records. It was an instant critical success and became their breakthrough album. It was especially well received in Europe, where the British music weeklies Melody Maker and Sounds named it their album of the year. Its idiosyncratic lyrics were written by the Pixies' main songwriter and lead vocalist Black Francis and allude to surrealist imagery, biblical violence, and descriptions of torture and death.

"Monkey Gone to Heaven" is a song by the American alternative rock band Pixies. Recorded in November 1988 during the sessions for the band's 1989 album Doolittle, it was released as a single in March, and included as the seventh track on the album when it was released a month later in April. The song was written and sung by frontman Black Francis and was produced by Gil Norton. Referencing environmentalism and biblical numerology, the song's lyrics mirrored themes that were explored in Doolittle. "Monkey Gone to Heaven" was the first Pixies song to feature guest musicians: two cellists, Arthur Fiacco and Ann Rorich, and two violinists, Karen Karlsrud and Corine Metter.
The xx are an English indie rock band from Wandsworth, London, formed in 2005. The band consists of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx, and formerly Baria Qureshi. They are known for their distinct and minimalist sound that blends indie rock, indie electronic, indie pop, dream pop and electro-rock and the dual vocalist setup of both Madley Croft and Sim.
