Suffern High School is a public high school in the Suffern Central School District (formerly known as the Ramapo Central School District) located in Suffern, New York. The school's mascot is a mountain lion (Mountie). Its yearbook is the Panorama. In 2015, Newsweek magazine ranked Suffern High in the top 500 high schools in the United States at number 439. [4]
Suffern High School offers many honors level classes, AP classes, and classes affiliated with the Syracuse University Project Advance program, the University of Cambridge, and SUNY Albany are offered as well.
Suffern High offers many sports throughout the year that take place both on and off campus; the school sports team is the Mounties. On March 11, 2012 Suffern High School won the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) state Hockey championship. [7] They would win again in 2022, and reach the state finals in 2023.
In March 2024 Suffern HS Hockey team, The Mounties, became Hockey New York State NYSPHSAA Division 1 Champions. This is the Mounties second championship in three years. The Mounties are now one of eight programs in the entire New York state to win four or more state championships.

Ramapo is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. It was originally formed as New Hampstead, in 1791, and became Ramapo in 1828. It shares its name with the Ramapo River. As of the 2020 census, Ramapo had a total population of 148,919, making it the most populous town in New York outside of Long Island. If all towns in New York were cities, Ramapo would be the 12th-largest city in the state of New York.
Suffern is a village that was incorporated in 1796 in the town of Ramapo in Rockland County, New York. Sitting adjacent to the town of Mahwah, New Jersey, Suffern is located 31 miles northwest of Manhattan. As of the 2020 census, Suffern's population was 11,402.

Jericho Senior High School (JHS) is an American comprehensive public high school in the hamlet of Jericho in Nassau County, New York. Dublin Jerome High School is a public high school located in Dublin, Ohio, northwest of Columbus, Ohio. It is the newest of the three high schools in the Dublin City Schools district. Jerome opened for its first year during the 2004–2005 school year. North Rockland High School (NRHS) is public, co-educational high school located in Thiells, New York, serving 9th to 12th grade students from the northern section of Rockland County, in southern New York. The building was formerly used as an education center for the nearby Letchworth Village mental institution. In the 1970s it transitioned to a high school for the public following an expansion of the Willowbrook State School in Staten Island, New York. Today, it is the only high school in the North Rockland Central School District.
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is the governing body of interscholastic sports for most public schools in New York outside New York City. The organization was created in 1923, after a predecessor organization called the New York State Public High School Association of Basketball Leagues began in 1921 to bring consistency to eligibility rules and to conduct state tournaments. It consists of 768 member high schools from the state divided into 11 geographic sections. While as its name suggests the vast majority of its members are public, it does include a number of private and Catholic high schools. Most of these are located in Central New York and the Capital District, where parallel sanctioning bodies for private schools do not exist. It is a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations as well as the New York State Federation of Secondary School Athletic Associations.

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Boys Basketball Championships are held annually to determine the champions of public high schools outside of New York City, though some catholic and independent schools are members as well. The championship games are held each March. After 36 years in Glens Falls at the Glens Falls Civic Center, the championships are held in Binghamton at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

Section 1 is a high school athletic organization that is one of the eleven sections of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). It is made up of high schools from around the southern portion of the Hudson Valley. The section offers "modified athletics" administration covering grades 7-9 middle school competition in area middle schools. Schools will sometimes compete with other schools outside of the section in tournaments or invitationals. The section is further divided into leagues based on mostly location but also the size of the school. The schools in the section compete with each other over the course of three seasons, fall, winter, and spring.
