It began on April 23, 2016 in Auburn, Alabama and finished on September 9, 2016 in Bristol, Tennessee. The tour was first announced in October 2015.

Kenneth Arnold Chesney is an American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He has recorded more than 20 albums and has produced more than 40 Top 10 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, 32 of which have reached number one. Many of these have also charted within the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making him one of the most successful crossover country artists. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

Quenton Keith Gattis was an American country music singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He released two studio albums and charted one single, "Little Drops of My Heart", on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart while signed to RCA Nashville. In 2002, Gattis joined Dwight Yoakam's band as band leader and lead electric guitar player and is credited on Yoakam's studio album Blame the Vain. In 2005, Gattis released his record Big City Blues.

The Cowboy Rides Away Tour was a concert tour by American country music artist George Strait. The tour was divided into two legs: 21 concerts in 2013 and 27 concerts in 2014, for a total of 48 concerts, all in the United States. The tour started on January 18, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas, and ended in Arlington, Texas, on June 7, 2014. Strait was supported on the tour by his longtime eleven-member touring group, the Ace in the Hole Band. Appearing in arenas with six stadium dates included, Strait performed many of his most popular recordings and performance songs, including uptempo hits such as "Here for a Good Time", "Ocean Front Property", "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls", and "Troubadour", and softer ballads such as "I Saw God Today", "The Chair", and "I Can Still Make Cheyenne". His encores included "All My Ex's Live in Texas" and "Folsom Prison Blues", and he closed each show with one of his earliest hit songs, "The Cowboy Rides Away". This song that inspired the name for the tour was written by Sonny Throckmorton and Casey Kelly.
The Burn It Down Tour was a headlining concert tour by American country music singer Jason Aldean held in the United States between May 2014 and August 2015. It began on May 1, 2014 in Roanoke, Virginia. Venues included four Major League Baseball stadiums: Citizens Bank Park, PNC Park, Nationals Park, and Great American Ball Park. Supporting acts included Florida Georgia Line and Tyler Farr, and Miranda Lambert at select venues. In summer 2015, Aldean's tour merged with Kenny Chesney's The Big Revival Tour for ten stadium shows. The "Burn It Down Tour" has played to over one million people.

Ten of the shows were merged with Jason Aldean's Burn It Down Tour. Eric Church co-headlined five of them with Chesney while Miranda Lambert co-headlined the show at Soldier Field in Chicago. This was the biggest country music concert tour of 2015 and the second-ranked North American one of the year, after grossing over $116.4 million.

The tour began on April 17, 2009, in Uncasville, Connecticut, ending on September 19, of that year in Indianapolis, Indiana. This tour was the biggest country music tour for 2009 and the sixth overall in music.

It began on April 30, 2016, in Austin, Texas, and finished on September 10, 2016, in West Palm Beach, Florida. In between dates on this tour, Lambert opened up for Kenny Chesney on his Spread the Love Tour. The tour was first announced on Lambert's website in January 2016. The last three shows were cancelled due to Lambert being put on mandated vocal rest.
"Forever Country" is a 2016 mashup performed by Artists of Then, Now & Forever, a one-time gathering of 30 American country music artists. The song combines elements of three previous country hits: John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (1971), Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" (1979), and Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" (1973). The song was recorded to commemorate the Country Music Association Awards reaching its 50th year. Originally, CMA Awards producers had wanted to record a cover of a single song; the idea to instead record a mashup came from Joseph Kahn, who directed the song's music video. The song was recorded in a span of three days in Nashville, Tennessee in June 2016 with Shane McAnally as producer, with the music video produced concurrently.
The Highway Vagabond Tour is the seventh concert tour by American country music artist Miranda Lambert, in support of her sixth studio album The Weight of These Wings (2016). It began on January 26, 2017, in Evansville, Indiana and concluded on October 21, 2017, in White Springs, Florida. A rehearsal show occurred on January 24, 2017, two days before the tour started, at Joe's Bar in Chicago.
The 50th Annual Country Music Association Awards, commonly known as CMA 50 or the 50th CMA Awards, were held on November 2, 2016 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. It began on April 21, 2018, in Tampa Bay, Florida and finished on August 24, 2018, in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The tour played NFL, MLB, and MLS stadiums. The tour was first announced in October 2017.

Starting in 1989 and 2016 respectively, the producer and mix engineer of the track also received an award. Rules state the track must have reached the Top 10 of Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart, Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, or Country Aircheck Chart for the first time during the eligibility period. If the single charted in the Top 10 on the above charts and was released prior to the eligibility period but achieved its highest chart position during the eligibility period, it is eligible.
