Saskia Tidey (born 11 June 1993 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland) is a sailor who has represented both Ireland and Great Britain in international sailing regattas. [1]

She represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 49er FX class. [2] [3]

In January 2017, Tidey confirmed that she hoped to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics due to the retirement of sailing partner Andrea Brewster and the unavailability of another suitable partner in Ireland for the 49er FX skiff event. She qualified to represent Great Britain through her British born father Don Tidey.

On 1 October, the British Olympic Association confirmed that Tidey had been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 49er FX Skiff class alongside Charlotte Dobson. [4] They finished 6th in their event in Tokyo. [5]

With Dobson retiring after the Olympics, Tidey was paired with Freya Black in the women's 49erFX in 2022. [6] The duo won gold at the Lanzarote International Regatta in February 2023. [7] They then finished fifth at the 2023 Sailing World Championships in The Hague, Netherlands, during the following month in a result which qualified the boat for the 2024 Summer Olympics. [8]

In October 2023, Tidey's place at the Olympics in Paris was officially confirmed when the Great Britain sailing squad was announced by Team GB. [9] [10]

Alongside Black, she came 14th at 49erFX World Championship in Lanzarote, Spain, in March 2024. [11]

Tidey and Black took bronze at the 49erFX European Championship in La Grande-Motte, France, in May 2024. [12]

At the 2024 Olympics, Tidey and Black missed out on a place in the 10-boat medal race, finishing 16th. [13] [14]

Eilidh Jane McIntyre is a British former sailor, who won the gold medal alongside Hannah Mills in the 470 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She won the 2019 470 World Championships, and came second at the 2017 470 World Championships. She finished third at the 2015 470 European Championships, and second at the 2019 and 2021 events, as well as having won multiple Sailing World Cup medals. In 2022, McIntyre was awarded an MBE for services to yachting.

Anouk Geurts is a Belgian sailor. She has competed in the 49 FX class at the 2020 Summer Olympics together with Isaura Maenhaut.

Isaura Maenhaut van Lemberge is a Belgian sailor. She has competed in the 49 FX class at the 2020 Summer Olympics together with Anouk Geurts.

Tess Lloyd is an Australian competitive sailor.

Stephanie Roble is an American sailor who is a Pan American Games medalist and a multi-medalist in the World Championships. She was named 2014 US Sailing Rolex Yachtswoman of Year.

Sailing competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics were held from July 28th to August 8th at Marseille Marina. The number of sailors competing across ten different events at these Games has been reduced from 350 to 330, with an equal distribution between men and women. Furthermore, several significant changes are instituted in the sailing program for Paris 2024 to reinforce gender equality and vast diversity among the nations in the qualifying process.

Freya Black is a British sailor who won a bronze medal at the 2024 49erFX European Championship. She represented Great Britain at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
