Prisca Guadalupe Awiti Alcaraz (born 20 February 1996) is a judoka. Born and raised in England, she represented Mexico at the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she won a silver medal, becoming the first Mexican athlete to win an Olympic medal in judo. [2] [3]
Awiti-Alcaraz was born in Enfield, Greater London, England to Kenyan father Xavier and Mexican mother María Dolores. Her mother hails from León, Guanajuato. [4]
Before getting into judo, Awiti Alcaraz swam and did gymnastics. [5] Her brothers Philip, Joshua, Samy, and Micheal as well as her cousins all joined Enfield Judo Club. [6]
Awiti Alcaraz studied sports performance at the University of Bath [7] and was a member of the Team Bath Sports Training Village.
Through her mother, Awiti Alcaraz has represented Mexico since 2017 [2] and relocated to Mexico from the U.K. full-time in 2022. [7] She battled back from a shoulder injury to win the silver medal at the Panamerican Senior Championships in Guadalajara in April 2021. [8] She was selected to compete at the 2020 Summer Games and was drawn against Boldyn Gankhaich in the opening round. [9]
Idalys Ortiz Bocourt is a Cuban judoka. She competed in the over 78 kg division at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics and won a medal on each occasion. She won the silver medal in the women's +78 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
Clarisse Bogdanna Agbegnenou is a French judoka. Competing in the −63 kg weight division she won the European title in 2013, the world title in 2014, an Olympic silver medal in 2016, and an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in July 2021.
