Orlu is the second-largest city in Imo State South East (Nigeria)|South East]], Nigeria, with a population of 420,600. It has a long history as the headquarters for the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and humanitarian relief agencies during the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War. The city houses the Nigerian headquarters of the British Cheshire Home. It is the second most developed city after Owerri in Imo state.
Nigeria has 774 local government areas (LGAs), each administered by a local government council consisting of a chairman, who is the chief executive, and other elected members, who are referred to as councillors. Each LGA is further subdivided into a minimum of ten and a maximum of twenty wards. A ward is administered by a councillor, who reports directly to the LGA chairman. Amaimo is an autonomous rural town located in Imo State, southeastern Nigeria. It is located near the city of Owerri. Amaimo is located in the North East of Ikeduru Local Government Area. It is bounded on the North by Ehime in Mbano LGA, on the South and East by Ugiri-Ike and Ahiazu in Mbaise; on the North-West by Inyishi and Eziama in Ikeduru Local Government Area, and on the South-West by Amakaohia Ikeduru. Owerri North is a Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Orie Uratta. It has an area of 198 square km and a population of 175,395 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 460. Owerri North is semi-urban government area. It encircles Owerri Municipal like a peninsula. Six major roads that lead out of the municipal cuts across Owerri North Communities. In the North, Orlu road leads to Amakaohia and Akwakuma communities. In the East, Okigwe road leads to Orji Community. In the West, MCC road off Wetheral to Obibi Uratta and Ihitaoha communities. In the South, Mbaise road leads to Egbu and Emekuku communities, while Aba road leads to Naze, Agbala and Ulakwo communities.
Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha is a Nigerian politician of Igbo extraction, from Imo State. He is the senator representing Imo West senatorial district at the 9th Nigerian Senate. From 2011 to 2019 he served as Governor of Imo State.
Ifeanyichukwu Eddie Mbadiwe is a Nigerian politician who served as People's Democratic Party member of the House of Representatives for Ideato North/South in Imo State.
Osina is a town in Ideato North Local Government of Imo State, Nigeria and is under Orlu senatorial zone. Osina has four villages: Eluama, Uhualla, Ofeke, Umuduru/Umuogbu (Durunogbu). The Nnewi – Okigwe road passes through Osina. The Awka – Umuahia road also passes through Osina.
Onyewuchi Francis Ezenwa is the senator representing Imo east senatorial district in the 9th assembly and the former member of the Nigerian Federal House of Representatives He represented the Owerri-Municipal/Owerri-North/West-Federal Constituency of Imo State under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in the Federal House of Representatives

Rt Hon. Chief Barr. Sir Noel Agwuocha Chukwukadibia is a Nigerian lawyer, politician and author from Imo State. Noel was a member of the Imo State House of Assembly representing Ahiazu-Mbaise State Constituency, becoming the first Speaker of the 1st Imo Assembly. Immediately after his single tenure in the house of assembly, He was appointed to the position of Commissioner of Public Utilities and Rural Development by Achike Udenwa and again reappointed as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Imo State.
The 1992 Nigerian Senate election in Imo State was held on July 4, 1992, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Imo State. Bright Nwanne representing Imo East/Owerri Zone, Umar Nnani Maduagwu representing Imo West/Orlu Zone and B.C. Agunanne representing Imo North/Okigwe Zone all won on the platform of the National Republican Convention.
The 2023 Imo State gubernatorial election was held on 11 November 2023 due to the belated inauguration of incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma, to elect the Governor of Imo State. Incumbent APC Governor Hope Uzodinma was re-elected, with him winning all the 27 local government areas. LP candidate Athan Achonu has filed a lawsuit against Uzodinma claiming that the election was "marred by irregularities, including vote buying and physical assaults of LP agents, and thus deserving of outright cancellation".
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Imo State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Imo State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Imo State will be held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.
Ugochinyere Michael Ikeagwuonu, also known as Ikenga Ugochinyere, is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and lawmaker. He currently serves as a member representing Ideato Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
