TV5 News and Current Affairs, also known on-air as News5 (formerly ABC News and Public Affairs and TV5 News and Public Affairs and later TV5 News and Information), is the news and current affairs division of the Philippine media company TV5 Network Inc. It is headquartered at the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines.

News5 generates news, infotainment, and entertainment output for TV5's media assets including its namesake network, RPTV, and other television stations, radio through the Radyo5 network, cable television through One News and One PH, internationally through Kapatid Channel, AksyonTV International, and news websites news5.com.ph and InterAksyon (part of the PhilStar Group). Luchi Cruz-Valdes served as News5 and Public Affairs department chief since 2009 until her retirement on September 30, 2024. [1]

Firsts

News5 set a number of firsts in news reporting in the country. These include the use of Live-Pack and a virtual news set, the first news FM station (92.3 Radyo5 True FM) and, prior to December 2013, the first and only 24-hour Filipino language free TV news channel (AksyonTV) along with the first English-language business news channel (Bloomberg TV Philippines) since October 5, 2015, prior to its launching in full broadcast, which is owned by Bloomberg L.P. in partnership with Bloomberg Television and Cignal. It is also the first news organization to shoot and produce its newscasts in High Definition in April 2015 and the first digital (online)-only news video channel thru News5 Digital (formerly News5 Everywhere), which was launched on June 28, 2017.

Wanted sa Radyo is a public affairs show that airs on Monday to Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm (PST) on 92.3 Radyo5 True FM (DWFM) with a live simulcast on television via One PH and True FM TV and online via livestreaming on the "Raffy Tulfo in Action" YouTube channel and Facebook page. Aksyon (transl. Action) was a Philippine television news broadcasting show aired on TV5. Originally anchored by Paolo Bediones, Erwin Tulfo and Cheryl Cosim, it premiered on April 5, 2010, on the network's evening line up replacing TEN: The Evening News. The show concluded on March 13, 2020. Luchi Cruz-Valdes and Ed Lingao served as the final anchors. It was replaced by Frontline Pilipinas in its timeslot.

Balitaang Tapat is now defunct afternoon newscast of TV5 produced by News5. The show was aired from November 1, 2010, to May 11, 2012, and was replaced by Aksyon sa Tanghali. The newscast is anchored by Raffy Tulfo and Amelyn Veloso. It is aired on every Monday to Friday at exactly 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM (PST).

Cheryl Kathleen Cosim-Alvarez is a Filipino journalist, news anchor and TV host, who has appeared on ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs and News5.

Aksyon TV was a Philippine free-to-air television network. It was a joint venture of Nation Broadcasting Corporation and TV5 Network, Inc., both under PLDT media arm MediaQuest Holdings. Its programs were primarily produced by TV5's divisions News5 and ESPN5. AksyonTV formerly broadcasts terrestrially through DWNB-TV in Metro Manila, as well as on UHF channel 29 in Cebu, Davao and other relay stations, and on a digital subchannel via channel 5.2 in Metro Manila. It occupies the frequency previously used by MTV Philippines, a subsidiary of MTV Networks Asia Pacific from 2001 until 2006.

T3: Alliance is a news magazine and public service show broadcast by TV5. Hosted by the Tulfo Brothers: Ben, Raffy, & Erwin. It aired from September 5, 2011 to April 30, 2016.

The 27th PMPC Star Awards for Television ceremony was held at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on November 24, 2013, and broadcast over ABS-CBN Channel 2 on December 1, 2013. The ceremony was hosted by Alex and Toni Gonzaga, Raymond and Richard Gutierrez and directed by Al Quinn. The theme is in coincidence with the Philippine Television's 60th anniversary.
