Nate Schatzline is an American politician and former Christian pastor who is currently serving in the Texas House of Representatives from District 93. [1]

Biography

Schatzline is from Fort Worth, Texas. [1] He is the director of operations of The Justice Reform, an anti-human trafficking nonprofit that operates under the auspices of Mercy Culture Church in Fort Worth. [2]

Political career

A Republican, Schatzline was elected during the 2022 Texas House of Representatives election, defeating Democrat KC Chowdhury in District 93. [2] He campaigned on Christian conservative values, and supported securing the Mexican border, law enforcement, and lowering taxes. [2] Schatzline supports the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and restrictions on abortion, with exceptions when the mother's life is at risk. [2] He opposes "critical race theory". [2] Schatzline serves on the county affairs and criminal jurisprudence committees. [1]

In 2023, Schatzline authored bill HB 1266 to restrict drag performances by amending the Texas business and commerce code. [3] [4] A 90-second video later surfaced of Schatzline dressed in drag for a skit while he was a young teen. [4]

On May 27, 2023, Schatzline voted against the impeachment of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. [5]
