The Minority Rights Action Party or Malay : Parti Tindakan Hak Minoriti, abbreviated MIRA, is a political party in Malaysia. The party was an active party and was formed in 2017 by a group of human rights activist led by Kannan Ramasamy and educationist Late Francis Rhajahh. It was approved registration by the Registrar of Society in November 2018. MIRA Party was co-founded by Kannan Ramasamy and Late Francis Rhajahh. The party's aims is to be voice of minority in Malaysia and to establish policy for minorities along the UN Declaration on Minorities Right 1992. [1]
Party being the first Indian Malaysian national bilingual and multi-racial party. It joined Perikatan Nasional as Friends of PN to represent Indian community and other minorities in Malaysia.
Minority Rights Action Party was once accepted as strategic partner of Pakatan Harapan in February 2018 before the GE14. [2] Since then, it took a more neutral stance and the government led by BN as friendly party.
On 19 December 2021, Kamarazaman Yaakob announced taking over Minority Rights Action Party (MIRA) and were named as president in order for it to be rebrand to Kuasa Rakyat. [3] Months later, he were dropped from MINA presidency while waiting for Registrar of Society application on the rebrand. [4]
On 4 August 2023, MIRA Party was officially appointed into Perikatan Nasional as Friends of PN under Fasal 5 of Perikatan Nasional by law. The ceremony was done at Hilton Double Tree Hotel I-city after the launch of PN Manifesto for Selangor. The certificate dated 17 July and appointment letter were given by PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to Sec Gen Kannan Ramasamy and President Datuk A.Chandrakumanan. [5] [6]
With the current of Malaysia political landscape where most of Indian majority parties are aligned to so called unity government, MIRA Party continue to be the voice of minorities and be the check and balance voices on the minority Indians and other communities needs on Pakatan Harapan lead mixed government policies and tasks.
The People's Justice Party, is a reformist political party in Malaysia formed on 3 August 2003 through a merger of the party's predecessor, the National Justice Party, with the socialist Malaysian People's Party. The party's predecessor was founded by Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during the height of the Reformasi movement on 4 April 1999 after the arrest of her husband, former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. At the 2022 Malaysian general election, the PH coalition which the PKR was part of was returned to power again, albeit without a majority, leading it to form a unity government with political rivals. The party is one of main partners of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling coalition in Malaysia.
The United Sabah Party is a political party of Sabah. The PBS was founded by Joseph Pairin Kitingan in 1985 and it is Sabah's oldest local party. In August 2020, PBS confirmed that they would be using their own logo and flag until Sabah's local coalition is established under Registrar of Societies (RoS). In 2022, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is the only Sabah's local coalition that has been successfully registered under the Registrar of Societies (RoS) making PBS interested in using the coalition's logo and becoming part of the coalition's component.

Ronald Kiandee is a Malaysian politician. A member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and its Vice President since August 2020 and 2nd State Chairman of Sabah since December 2022, he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Beluran since November 1999. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021. He was reappointed to the same post for a second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob from August 2021 until the dissolution of the BN government in November 2022, when BN lost its reelection campaign in the 2022 general election. Prior to serving in the Cabinet, Kiandee was the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration from 2018 to 2019 and Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat I in the BN administration from 2008 to 2018. He is presently the sole MP of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party of Sabah and one of the only two Christian MPs of PN alongside Ali Biju.
The United Sarawak Party was a multi-racial political party based in the state of Sarawak.
The Malaysian United Indigenous Party is a nationalist political party in Malaysia. The party was preceded by the United Indigenous Association of Malaysia and founded by members of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) rebel group Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia. It is a major component of the Perikatan Nasional coalition.

Homeland Solidarity Party is a Sabah-based political party in Malaysia. The party was founded on 1 July 2016 by Joseph Pairin Kitingan's brother Jeffrey. STAR Party was one of four founding parties of the United Sabah Alliance (USA) founded in 2016, United Alliance of Sabah (UAOS) founded in 2018, and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) founded in 2020, the other being the Sabah People's Ideas Party (GAGASAN), Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and United Sabah Party (PBS).
The Sarawak Parties Alliance is a Sarawak-based national political alliance in Malaysia. It was established in 2018 by four former Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties operating solely in Sarawak following the federal coalition's defeat in the 2018 Malaysian general election. It is currently the fourth largest political coalition with 23 seats in the Dewan Rakyat, and forms the government in the state of Sarawak.
General elections were held in Malaysia on Saturday, 19 November 2022. The prospect of snap elections had been considered high due to the political crisis that had been ongoing since 2020; political instability caused by coalition or party switching among members of Parliament, combined with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, contributed to the resignation of two prime ministers and the collapse of each of their respective coalition governments since the 2018 general elections.
The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. It is the second largest political coalition in Dewan Rakyat with 74 seats after Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 81 seats.

Datuk Kenny Chua Teck Ho is a Malaysian politician who served as State Assistant Minister of Finance of Sabah in the Heritage Party (WARISAN) state administration under former Chief Minister and Minister Shafie Apdal from May 2018 to his resignation in July 2020 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Inanam from May 2018 to September 2020. He is a member of the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR), a component party of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and formerly Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalitions and was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He has served as the Deputy President of STAR for the Chinese quota since June 2024.
Dominic Lau Hoe Chai is a Malaysian politician who had served as a Senator from November 2021 to November 2024. He is currently the 6th President of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He succeeded Mah Siew Keong as party president in November 2018.

The 2024 Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election was a by-election for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Kuala Kubu Baharu that was held on 11 May 2024. It was called following the death of incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong on 21 March 2024 of cancer. Lee had served as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Kuala Kubu Baharu, serving since 2013 for three terms. It was the first Selangor state by-election since the 2023 Selangor state election. The last time Selangor had a by-election was during the 2019 Semenyih by-election.
The Malaysian Indian People Party, abbreviated MIPP, is a nationalist ethnic Indian political party in Malaysia. Since 2024 it has been a member of the Perikatan Nasional coalition. MIPP was approved and registered on 28th May 2019 by the Registrar of Societies (ROS). The party main ideology is to look after the interest of Malaysian Indians.
