Michael 'Mike' Archer Winch (born 20 July 1948) [1] is a male retired British shot putter.
Winch represented England and won a silver medal in the shot put event, at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand. [2] [3] Four years later he represented England in the discus and shot put events, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada [4] [5] and in 1982 he represented England for the third time at the Commonwealth Games and won another silver medal in the shot put event, at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Subsequent to his athletics career he has coached international athletes (mainly throwers) including multiple gold medallist Judy Oakes OBE, and Olympic athletes Philippa Roles and Emeka Udechuku. He was chief British throws coach at the World Championships in Gothenburg 1991, chief throws coach to the England team in Kuala Lumpur 1998 and overall chief coach of England's athletics team at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games [8]
He was UK Athletics Vice President for four years, stepping down in February 2008 over the governing body’s handling of the Dwain Chambers controversy. [9] He has written several sporting technical books (strength and conditioning training) and three novels: Running From Gold, Run to Death, and The Convocation of Colours).
Leslie Roy Mills is a retired New Zealand track and field athlete and politician. He represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games over two decades, competing in the shot put and discus throw. He won a total of five medals at the Commonwealth Games including gold in the discus at the 1966 Games.

Beverley Jones is a Paralympian from Wales competing in category F37 throwing events. Jones won a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games as an EAD in the 100m sprint. Jones has qualified for four Summer Paralympics from 2000 to 2012 finishing fourth twice, in the sprint in 2000 at Sydney and in the shot put at Athens in 2004.

Carol Lynne Martin is a former track-and-field athlete in discus, shot put and javelin. She represented Canada at the Commonwealth Games in 1966, 1970 and 1974, on each occasion winning the bronze medal for women's discus throw. She also represented Canada at the Pan-American Games, earning the silver medal for discus in 1967 and the bronze in 1971. Martin competed in discus at the Pacific Conference Games, winning silver in 1969 and gold in 1973. Martin competed on Canada's national track and field team for 10 years and held the Canadian women's title in discus for seven years.
