The Mayor of the City of Stockton is the official head and chief executive officer of Stockton, California. The mayor is elected for a four-year term and limited to serving no more than two terms. Under the California Constitution, all judicial, school, county, and city offices, including those of chartered cities, are nonpartisan. Kevin Lincoln is the city's 80th and current mayor, having assumed office on January 1, 2021. [2]

List of mayors

As of 2021, 80 individuals have served as Stockton's mayor since its incorporation as a city in California. [3] Ten mayors have served non consecutive terms, the first being E.S. Holden and the most recent being Arnold Rue. The mayor is chosen every four years in a municipal vote. Prior to 1992, the mayor was selected from the City Council. [4]

American Sikhs form the country's sixth-largest religious group. While the U.S. Census does not ask about religion, 70,697 Americans declared Sikh as their ethnicity in the 2020 census. The U.S. Census Bureau cites the 2008 American Religious Identification Survey's estimate of the adult Sikh American population at 78,000. Edward "Ed" Chavez is a former American politician and law enforcement officer who served as the 76th mayor of Stockton, California from 2005 until 2009. Prior to that, Chavez served as the city's police chief from 1993 to 2005.

David Jacob Oliver is a former infielder and coach in Major League Baseball, and is currently a member of the scouting department for the Kansas City Royals. Primarily a second baseman as a professional player, he batted left-handed and threw right-handed, stood 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) tall and weighed 180 pounds (82 kg). He attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. While playing for the Mustangs from 1970–73, Oliver collected 226 hits, batted .320 and with 706 at bats ranked second to fellow Mustang Ozzie Smith.

Incumbent Republican mayor Kevin Lincoln is not running for reelection, instead running for the United States House of Representatives in California's 9th congressional district against incumbent Democrat Josh Harder. In the first round held on March 5, Republican Tom Patti and Democrat Christina Fugazi advanced to the runoff in November.
