Maracha District is a district in the West Nile sub-region, in the Northern Region of Uganda. It was formed in 2006 from Arua District.
Initially, the counties of Maracha and Terego were removed from Arua District to form a new, single district, which was also known as Maracha–Terego District or Nyadri District. [2] [3] From the district's inception, the location of its headquarters had been a contentious issue. [4] In February 2007, one group of elected officials from the district asked a court to block the location of the new district headquarters in an opposing location. [5] [6] After nearly five years of disagreement, Terego County opted to return to Arua District and Maracha County went on to form the new district on its own. [7]
The district is bordered by Koboko District to the north, Yumbe District to the north-east, and Terego District to the east and Arua City to the south. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is west of Maracha District. Maracha Town is approximately 39 kilometres (24 mi), by road, north of Arua, the largest town in the sub-region. [8] The coordinates of the district are 03 17N, 30 56E. (Latitude:3.28750; Longitude:30.94000). [9]
The 1991 census estimated the population of the district at 107,600. The 2002 national census estimated the population at 145,700. In 2014, the national census enumerated the population at 186,134. [1]

Arua District is a district in the Northern Region of Uganda. Like many Ugandan districts, it too shares its name with its administrative center of Arua. The name Arua is said to be derived from the Lugbara name for prison (Arujo) and prisoner (Aru), since the white settlers had a detention center at Arua Hill.
Moyo District is a district in Northern Region of Uganda. Like many other Ugandan districts, it is named after its "chief town", Moyo, where the district headquarters are located.

The hospital also receives referrals from neighboring parts of South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

St. Aloysius College Nyapea is a boys-only boarding middle and high school located in Zombo District in the West Nile sub-region, in the Northern Region of Uganda. In the 1960s and 1970s the school was a seat of academic excellence. However, it fell on hard times in subsequent years, and as of 2018, was "a shadow of its former self. As from 2019 the former students of the college under the umbrella organisation, St. Aloysius College Nyapea Old Boys Association have introduced both infrastructure development initiatives and students busary schemes aimed at helping the under privileged and poor prospective students with strong academic interest to be sponsored for secondary education. As of 2023, more than 70 students have been enrolled under the scheme. The old boys involvement has led to the college enrollment more than doubling. They are now working with other institutions and people who believe that education is a potent tool in improving people's quality of life to support more prospective students while being cognizant of the social responsibility they bear to the surrounding communities as well".
Mvara Secondary School is a mixed, co-educational secondary school in Arua District in the Northern Region of Uganda.
Terego is a district in Uganda's Northern Region. It is located approximately 360 kilometres (220 mi) northwest of Uganda's capital Kampala. The administrative centre of the district is the trading centre of Leju in Aii-Vu Sub-County. Terego District covers an area of 1,102 square kilometres (425 sq mi) and the areas now making up the district recorded a non-refugee population of 199,303 in the 2014 Ugandan census. Terego District also hosts an estimated 168,000 refugees, mostly from South Sudan, in the Imvepi Refugee Settlement and the western zones of the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement in the district.
