Laurie Webb (born 6 May 1924) is a Welsh retired actor known for his roles in television series such as Doctor Who , Paul Temple and Doomwatch .

Doctor Who

Webb played Mr. Ollis in the 10th anniversary serial The Three Doctors (1972–1973). [1]

He is the oldest living person associated to Doctor Who since Arnold Yarrow's death in December 2024. [2]

Personal life

Webb, an avid golfer, celebrated his centenary by playing nine holes of golf at Pyrford Lakes Golf Club as a fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society. [3]

Jeeves and Wooster is a British comedy-drama television series adapted by Clive Exton from P. G. Wodehouse's "Jeeves" stories. It aired on the ITV network from 22 April 1990 to 20 June 1993, with the last series nominated for a British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series. Set in the UK and the US in an unspecified period between the late 1920s and the 1930s, the series starred Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster, an affable young gentleman and member of the idle rich, and Stephen Fry as Jeeves, his highly intelligent and competent valet. Richard Shaw was an English actor remembered for appearing in the science fiction franchises Quatermass and Doctor Who, as well as having a regular role as henchman Ryan in the children's series Freewheelers. He was a regular face on British TV networks BBC and ITV. Shaw played many supporting roles, mostly British crime films, through the 50s, 60s and 70s. He locked the bunker, full of Nazis and their families, before it was filled with gasoline and grenades were dropped in during the last scenes of the Second World War movie The Dirty Dozen. He also performed stunt roles. During the latter part of his career, in 1980, he played the love interest of both Bet Lynch and Elsie Tanner, Dan Johnson, in the UK soap opera Coronation Street.

Arnold Yarrow was a British actor, screenwriter and novelist best known for his brief role as bricklayer Benny Bloom in television soap opera EastEnders. Like the character, he was Jewish. Yarrow's other scriptwriting work included episodes of Crown Court, Warship and Softly, Softly: Task Force.
