Laura Smulders (born 9 December 1993) is a Dutch racing cyclist who represents the Netherlands in BMX. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the women's BMX event [1] [2] where she won the bronze medal.

Her younger sister, Merel Smulders is also a BMX rider and became junior World Time Trial Champion at the 2016 UCI BMX World Championships. [3]

The road races took place over a course starting and ending in The Mall in central London and heading out into Surrey, while the time trials started and finished at Hampton Court Palace in Richmond upon Thames. Eighteen events were contested and around 500 athletes participated.

Brooke Crain is an American BMX racing cyclist. Born in Visalia, California she was selected to represent the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the women's BMX event. On August 8, 2012 during her first run in the seeding event, Crain fell after losing control and was placed 16th and last in the seedings. She competed again at the 2016 Olympics and finished in fourth place.
