Jean Joho is a French-American chef and restaurateur. He was chef and proprietor of Everest in Chicago (founded in 1986, closed 2020), [2] [1] Paris Club Bistro & Bar and Studio Paris in Chicago, The Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas, and Brasserie Jo, first in Chicago, then in Boston.
Born in Barr, France, Joho was already working in his aunt's restaurant kitchen, peeling vegetables in full chef uniform and hat, by age six. At age 11, he spent his summer making cheese in Marseilles. [3] His formal training began at age 13 at L'Auberge de L'lll under master chef Paul Haeberlin. [4] Joho honed his craft in other kitchens throughout Europe.
By age 23, Joho was the sous chef at a Michelin three-star restaurant where he commanded a 35-person staff. [4] While studying at the Hotel Restaurant School in Strasbourg, he immersed himself in the hotel and restaurant business, as well as the arts of pastry, cheese and wine.
Joho's rise to international success began on the 40th floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange with Everest, [1] [4] which is now one of the world's premier dining rooms and a Relais & Chateaux property. He is a managing partner at Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises and has establishments across the country as well as partnership in several other concepts, including Chicago's Nacional 27 and M Burger.
In 2013, Chef Joho and his team at Everest were awarded four stars by Chicago Tribune journalist Phil Vettel. [2] He was named Restaurateur of the Year for 2012 by Gayot . [1]
In December 2020, Joho closed the Everest Restaurant. He said in an interview with the Chicago Times that he was closing the restaurant after 35 years due to the expiration of its lease. [5]
Jean Joho is the author of The Eiffel Tower Cookbook (Chronicle Books, 2008, ISBN 0811860477, 144 pp.). In this cookbook, he shares 50 of his signature dishes.

Thomas Aloysius Keller is an American chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author. He and his landmark Napa Valley restaurant, the French Laundry in Yountville, California, have won multiple awards from the James Beard Foundation, including Best California Chef in 1996 and Best Chef in America in 1997. The restaurant was a perennial winner in the annual Restaurant list of the Top 50 Restaurants of the World; the voting process has since been changed to disallow previous winners from being considered.

The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists in the United States. They are scheduled around James Beard's May 5 birthday. The media awards are presented at a dinner in New York City; the chef and restaurant awards were also presented in New York until 2015, when the foundation's annual gala moved to Chicago. Chicago will continue to host the Awards until 2027.

Sixteen was an American restaurant on the sixteenth floor of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in the Near North Side community area of Chicago. It was one of three food and dining options in the hotel's room service offering. Sixteen opened in early February 2008, and an adjoining outdoor patio terrace, named The Terrace at T, opened on June 25, 2009 following the completion of the hotel's construction.

Sepia is a mid-sized, upscale restaurant run by owner Emmanuel Nony and Executive Chef Andrew Zimmerman located in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Chef Zimmerman's menu is classified as New American cuisine, and focuses on local, seasonal products. Built in Chicago's Warehouse District, Sepia was originally a print shop from the 1890s. The renovation for the restaurant, designed by Gary Lee, included putting in a custom-tile, Art Nouveau floor and hand-crafted millwork in order to enhance the historical qualities of the building. Sepia also uses vintage stemware for their tables matching the vintage interior decor of the restaurant.
The Restaurant Marco Pierre White, also known as The Restaurant, Restaurant Marco Pierre White and later Oak Room Marco Pierre White, was a restaurant run by chef proprietor Marco Pierre White. The Restaurant was opened at the Hyde Park Hotel, London, on 14 September 1993, after White left his previous restaurant, Harveys. Following the move, the kitchen staff was more than doubled in number, and White used Pierre Koffmann's La Tante Claire as a template to pursue his third Michelin star. This was awarded in the 1995 Michelin guide. White then moved the restaurant to the Le Méridien Piccadilly Hotel, London, in 1997, taking on the listed Oak Room as the main dining room. He sought a further rating of five red forks and spoons in the guide, to gain the highest possible rating for the restaurant. It gained this award in the following guide.
