Eric James Marshall Slick (born May 15, 1987) [1] is an American singer, songwriter and drummer. He is the drummer of Dr. Dog, [2] performing on their albums Shame, Shame (2010), [3] Be The Void (2012), [4] B-Room (2013), [5] The Psychedelic Swamp (2016) [6] Abandoned Mansion (2016). [7] and Critical Equation (2018). [8] Slick released his debut solo album Palisades on April 21, 2017 to positive reviews from Consequence of Sound, [9] Relix [9] and Tidal, in which Greg Saunier of Deerhoof rated the album "10 out of 10 stars." [10]

Early life

Slick is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and began playing drums at age 5. [11] As a teenager, he was a student of the original Paul Green School of Rock Music, and appeared with his sister Julie in the 2005 documentary Rock School .

Career

Aside from Dr. Dog and solo records, Slick has also performed/recorded with Adrian Belew, [12] Nels Cline (Wilco), [13] Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear [14] ), R. Stevie Moore, [15] Cass McCombs, [13] Ween, [16] [17] and Ruston Kelly; he played drums on the 2021 Taylor Swift track “You All Over Me”, produced by Aaron Dessner. [18]

Slick also operates a vinyl label, Least Records. [19]

On June 24, 2019, Eric Slick took to Twitter to announce his marriage to fellow musician, Natalie Prass. [20] They later collaborated in 2020 on Slick's solo album, Wiseacre (2020) with the feature track, Closer to Heaven. [21]

In 2022, Slick played drums [22] on The Simple Plan EP by August is Falling, a pop-punk, emo-style music project. [23]

Egghunt Records is an independent record label based in Richmond, Virginia. The label was founded by Adam Henceroth and Gregory Gendron in spring of 2014. Egghunt Records focuses on independent artists. It releases material on vinyl, CD & cassette physical formats, as well as digital download and streaming online. Egghunt Records maintains an active roster of artists who have toured with notable acts such as The War on Drugs and Houndmouth. Egghunt Records alumni include Lucy Dacus, whose debut album, No Burden, was released on Egghunt Records in 2016. As of 2024, Egghunt Records has released 56 releases and continues to support up-and-coming indie artists.

Pat Finnerty is an American musician and YouTube personality based in Philadelphia. As a singer-guitarist, his projects include Okay Paddy, And the Moneytones, Pat Finnerty and the Full Band, and August is Falling. On social media channels, Finnerty is known for posting original song compositions and giving critical reviews of popular music songs in the What Makes This Song Stink series.
