Donna Lynn Dixon (born July 20, 1957) [1] [2] [3] is an American model, pageant winner and former actress. Her acting credits include two seasons as Sonny Lumet in the television show Bosom Buddies and roles in Doctor Detroit (where she met her future husband Dan Aykroyd) and Spies Like Us .

Biography

Dixon was born July 20, 1957, in Alexandria, Virginia. [2] Her father, Earl Dixon, owned a nightclub in Lorton, Virginia, on U.S. 1 called Hillbilly Heaven.

Dixon began her career as a model and was named Miss Virginia USA in 1976 and Miss District of Columbia World in 1977. She competed in both Miss USA 1976 and Miss World USA 1977. [4]

On television, Dixon portrayed Allison Hayes in the NBC drama Berringer's. [5] She co-starred with Tom Hanks in the early 1980s situation comedy Bosom Buddies , playing the role of Sonny Lumet. [5] :125-126

Months after they worked together in the film Doctor Detroit (1983), Dixon and actor Dan Aykroyd married. They later starred together in the films Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) (though they did not share any scenes), Spies Like Us (1985) and The Couch Trip (1988). Dixon and Aykroyd have three daughters, among whom is singer-songwriter Vera Sola (née Danielle Aykroyd) and actor/model Belle Aykroyd. [6] The couple announced in April 2022 that they were separating after 39 years of marriage, but would remain legally married. [7]

Spies Like Us is a 1985 American spy comedy film directed by John Landis, and starring Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Steve Forrest, and Donna Dixon. The film presents the comic adventures of two novice intelligence agents sent to the Soviet Union. Originally written by Aykroyd and Dave Thomas to star Aykroyd and John Belushi at Universal, the script went into turnaround following Belushi's 1982 death and was later picked up by Warner Bros., starring Aykroyd and Chase.

Miss Teen USA is a beauty pageant that has been run since 1983 by the Miss Universe Organization for girls aged 14–19 years old as of January 1st of the competition year. They must be US citizens, and cannot have been married, pregnant, or have children. Unlike its sister pageants Miss Universe, which currently broadcasts on JKN18 and like its sister pageant Miss USA, it is televised on The CW television network starting in 2024, after being streamed online for several years. The Miss Universe Organization previously operated Miss Teen USA, as well as Miss USA, until 2020 when the rights to produce both pageants were licensed to Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart prior to her suspension in October 2022, thus returning the said pageants to the Miss Universe Organization. The parent company of all three pageants and the Miss Universe organization remains the same under the licensing agreement: JKN Metaverse Inc., a subsidiary of JKN Global Group.
