The Nebraska Cornhuskers are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The university is a member of the Big Ten Conference and competes in NCAA Division I, fielding twenty-two varsity teams in fifteen sports. Nineteen of these teams participate in the Big Ten, while rifle is a member of the single-sport Patriot Rifle Conference and beach volleyball and bowling compete as independents. The Cornhuskers have two official mascots, Herbie Husker and Lil' Red.
Thomas William Osborne is a former American football player, coach, college athletics administrator, and politician from Nebraska. He served as head football coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1973 to 1997. After being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999, Osborne was elected to Congress in 2000 from Nebraska's third district as a Republican. He served three terms (2001–2007), returned to the University of Nebraska as athletic director in 2007, and retired in 2013.
Ahman Rashad Green is an American former football running back who played 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Green played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 3rd round of the 1998 NFL Draft, playing there for two seasons before being traded to the Green Bay Packers, with whom he played for eight of the next ten seasons. Green also played for the Houston Texans, and was a four-time Pro Bowl selection with the Packers, where he holds the franchise record for rushing yards. He was the head esports coach at Lakeland University until the end of 2022.

Johnny Ray Holland is an American gridiron football coach and former player. He is the linebackers coach for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Holland played in the NFL as a linebacker for the Green Bay Packers from 1987 to 1993. He is an inductee into the Texas A&M Hall of Fame, the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame, and the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
Mark Anthony "Bo" Pelini is a former American football coach and former player. He was most recently the defensive coordinator for the Louisiana State University Tigers football team. He played six years in the NFL, mostly on special teams.
Zac Woodfin is an American football coach and former linebacker. He was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2005, and went on to have stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Frankfurt Galaxy and the Houston Texans. Zac attended Prattville High School. He played college football at UAB.
John Faiman of Omaha, Nebraska was a University of Nebraska Cornhusker quarterback. A two-time All-American quarterback at Omaha South High School, Faiman played quarterback for the Huskers from 1960 to 1962, starting the first game of 1962 which also was the first game for new head coach Bob Devaney. Faiman was head coach of the Bellevue West High School Thunderbirds in Bellevue, Nebraska.
