The former original building in Elmbank Drive was erected in 1807. The school can be traced back to the 1630s when it was known as 'Kilmarnock Burgh School'. The school's operations are overseen by East Ayrshire Council.

In 1997, it was awarded specialist language college status and in 2000 it became a training school. It has been an academy since 2012 and operates as part of The Laurus Trust. The school was rated 'Outstanding' in a 2014 Ofsted Report.

Wombourne High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Wombourne, Staffordshire, England. Chesterton Community College is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Chesterton, Cambridge, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It was established in 1935 as two separate schools for boys and girls, which merged in 1974 to form a mixed comprehensive school and adult centre. Chesterton was granted Community College status in 1983, and became an academy in 2011.
The Cavendish School was a secondary school in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire that first opened in 1959 as a grammar school, becoming a comprehensive school in 1970. It was named after the University of Cambridge's Cavendish Laboratory. The Cavendish School closed in 2018 and reopened as Laureate Academy.
All Saints' Catholic Academy is a Roman Catholic secondary school in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. It is the only Catholic secondary school in the district, with a capacity for over 1,000 students. The school is allied to St. Philip Neri with St. Bede's Catholic Voluntary Academy for younger pupils aged 3–11 years.

Oasis Academy Hadley is an all-through academy school located in the Ponders End area of the London Borough of Enfield, England run by Oasis Community Learning. It is the second Oasis academy in London and has close links with Oasis Academy Enfield. It opened on 7 September 2009. It opened in the existing buildings of Albany School and the Primary Phase opened its reception class in September 2010. Mid January 2013, the new building in Ponders End was opened.
The Winsford Academy is an 11–16 mixed secondary school with academy status in Winsford, Cheshire, England. It was established in September 2010 following the amalgamation of the two predecessor schools; Verdin High School and Woodford Lodge High School. It is located on the campus of the former Verdin High School on Grange Lane that was established in 1970 and was initially one component of a two-campus school, with history spanning from its original founding as Verdin Technical School in 1895.
Fowey River Academy is a co-educational secondary school with academy status, serving a large and diverse catchment area including Fowey the nearby towns of St Blazey and Lostwithiel and surrounding villages. The school currently has a 'Requires Improvement' Ofsted Rating. The school was also featured in a ‘damning’ BBC Panorama documentary, that looked into the way two academy trusts had spent millions of pounds. Serious questions were raised about how money was spent on improvements, as well as claims that school governors were denied financial reports and that there was a lack of local scrutiny over the way the school was run. Fowey River Academy was reportedly charged at least £300,000 for LED lighting that its chairman of governors said was not installed.
