Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium is a hockey stadium in Rourkela, Odisha. [1] The stadium was constructed and well maintained by SAIL. It was possible due to initiatives taken by Late Bipin Behari Panda & M. Kindo in early 90s.
The stadium is mainly used for field hockey and has synthetic AstroTurf which has been host to World Hockey Junior World Cup and been a training centre to most of the international Hockey players of India.
Stadium is the Home Ground of Odisha Hockey Team. Situated on the middle of Sector-5 and Sector-6 areas on the side of the main road leading to Sector-6. The said stadium was constructed and maintained by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant authority having AstroTurf with nylon grass for national and international level hockey match and practice. Office of the DGM (sports) of Rourkela Steel Plant, the highest body of SAIL, RSP for propagating and nurturing the budding sports talents of the area is located here.
SAIL Hockey Academy: This academy has been playing a defining role in identifying talents and shaping their skills to make them represent the National Team in International Competitions. The Academy is proud to have groomed many cadets who represented the country.
Number of Annual and regular hockey matches took place at this place throughout the year. Campus is a unique of its kind for the nurture to train the budding Hockey talents of Sundergarh District also located here.
Honorable Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari inaugurated Biju Patnaik Rural Hockey Championship at Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium in the year of 10 December 2016 . In which over 1500 teams from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand took part in this championship event.

Bijayananda Patnaik was an Indian politician and aviator. He served as the 3rd Chief Minister of the State of Odisha from 1961 to 1963 and from 1990 to 1995. He was also the 14th Steel and mines and 1st Coal Union Minister of India from 1979 to 1980 and from 1977 to 1979 and a member of Lok Sabha from Kendrapara from 1977 to 1985. He is the father of Naveen Patnaik, who was the CM of Odisha.

Michael Kindo was an Indian field hockey player from the tribal belt of Jharkhand. He played at full back defender position and represented India and competed in the 1971 Men's Hockey World Cup, 1972 Summer Olympics, 1973 Men's Hockey World Cup, 1974 Asian Games, 1975 Men's Hockey World Cup. Prior to this he had competed in several local, national and regional competitions. In 1972, he became the first Adivasi sportsperson to be awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award.

Purushottam Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) is a private co-aid undergraduate engineering college located in semi rural part of Mandiakudar of semi urban town Kansbahal. The institute was established in 1999. In the beginning, the institute temporarily functioned in the campus of Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium, Sector 06 of city Rourkela, with small a number of students and faculty. In 2001 the institute moved to new campus located at Mandiakudar, 30 km away from the city Rourkela.
The Kalinga Stadium is a multi-purpose international sports complex in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Its foundation stone was laid by the former chief minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik in 1978. It is best known as the home ground of the Indian Super League club Odisha FC since its inception in 2019. It was the home ground of the I-League club Indian Arrows from 2018 until 2022. It is situated in the heart of Bhubaneswar near Nayapalli area. It has facilities for athletics, football, field hockey, tennis, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, wall climbing and swimming. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA) is an autonomous institute established by the Government of Kerala at Thekkumthala, Chengalam East Village in Kottayam District of Kerala state as a training-cum-research centre in film/audio-visual technology. The institute, named after K. R. Narayanan who was the President of India during 1997 - 2002, was inaugurated by Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India, on 11 January 2016. The Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium is an international field hockey stadium situated at Rourkela, India. The stadium has been named after the tribal leader, Birsa Munda, who was a famous freedom fighter from Khunti, Jharkhand. With a seating capacity of 20,011 permanent seats, it is officially recognised by the Guinness World Records as the largest fully seated hockey arena in the world on January 29, 2023.
Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTH-HPC) is a professional field hockey institute located at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. It was launched on 13 August 2019 after Government of Odisha, Tata Steel & Tata Trusts joined hands to initiate a three-pronged program under the HPC banner of Government of Odisha. It is one of the 11 HPCs at the Kalinga Stadium which have been set up under the governance of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Commissioner Cum Secy Sports Shri Vineel Krishna, who have been very influential in development of sports in the state.
