The song was written by Mars, Philip Lawrence, Christopher Brody Brown, James Fauntleroy, Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves and Ray McCullough II. The former three produced it under the name Shampoo Press & Curl, along with the latter four, as the Stereotypes. The song was composed after a jam session as Mars wanted to recreate the "new jack swing sound". Atlantic Records released a remix, featuring verses from American rapper Cardi B, as the album's fifth and final single on January 4, 2018. Musically, it is a new jack swing, hip hop soul and funk song. The lyrics demonstrate the happiness of being with who one loves and the positive outcome of that for them and others.

Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, known professionally as Cardi B, is an American rapper. She is one of the most commercially successful female rappers of her generation. Born and raised in New York City, she first gained popularity through videos shared on Vine and Instagram. From 2015 to early 2017, she appeared as a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York, which depicted her pursuit of her music aspirations, and earned further recognition with the release of her two mixtapes: Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1 (2016) and Vol. 2 (2017).

Originally planned as an EP and primarily a hip hop record, it also includes elements of trap, Latin trap and R&B. It features production from 30 Roc, Andrew Watt, Benny Blanco, Boi-1da, Craig Kallman, Cubeatz, DJ Mustard, Frank Dukes, J. White Did It, Keyz, Murda Beatz, Needlz, Tainy, and Vinylz, among others. The album features guest appearances by Migos, Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, SZA, 21 Savage, J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and YG.

"Drip" is a song recorded by American rapper Cardi B, featuring American hip hop trio Migos. It was written by the artists alongside Joshua Cross, with production handled by Cassius Jay and Nonstop Da Hitman. The song was released by Atlantic Records on April 4, 2018, as the first promotional single from Cardi B's debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy (2018) and was later sent to Australian radio on April 6, 2018.

Anthony Jermaine White, known professionally as J. White Did It or simply J. White, is an American record producer, songwriter, and DJ from Blytheville, Arkansas. He is best known for producing Cardi B's chart-topping singles, "Bodak Yellow" (2017) and "I Like It" (2018). Additionally, J. White produced "Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé, which also hit number-one on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as "A Lot" by 21 Savage featuring J. Cole, which reached number 12 on the Hot 100 and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song.

"Wish Wish" is a song by American record producer DJ Khaled featuring American rapper Cardi B and Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage, taken from Khaled's 2019 studio album Father of Asahd. It was released on May 17, 2019, as track two on its parent album. This song marked the second time each artist had worked with another, their firsts being: Cardi B and 21 Savage on "Bartier Cardi" (2017), 21 Savage and DJ Khaled on "Iced Out My Arms" (2017), and DJ Khaled and Cardi B on "Dinero" (2018).

"Jimmy Cooks" is a song by Canadian rapper Drake featuring British rapper 21 Savage, released on June 17, 2022 as the final track from the former's seventh studio album Honestly, Nevermind, with the latter being the only guest appearance on the album.
