Donald Curry, is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1980 to 1991, and in 1997. He held the undisputed welterweight title from 1985 to 1986, the WBC light middleweight title from 1988 to 1989, and challenged once for the IBF and lineal middleweight titles in 1990. In 2019, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Howard Edward Davis Jr. was an American amateur and professional boxer. Growing up on Long Island as the eldest of 10 children, Davis first learned boxing from his father. After being inspired by a movie about Muhammad Ali, Davis embarked on his amateur career. He won the 1976 Olympic gold medal one week after his mother died. He was also awarded the Val Barker Trophy at the Olympics, beating out such boxers as Sugar Ray Leonard, Michael Spinks and Leon Spinks.
The Chicago Golden Gloves is an amateur boxing tournament, considered by many boxing aficionados as one of the three most elite Golden Gloves titles, along with the Intercity Golden Gloves and the New York Golden Gloves. The tournament is also more formally known as the Chicagoland Golden Gloves Charities Tournament. It was initiated by the Chicago Tribune sports editor Arch Ward in 1923. The program and tournament are currently run by Directors Ted Gimza, Dr. Glenn Bynum, and Sam Colonna.
The Air Force Falcons are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the United States Air Force Academy, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The athletics department has 17 men's and 10 women's NCAA-sanctioned teams. The current athletic director is Nathan Pine. Off Camera is an American interview-based television series, magazine and podcast created and hosted by photographer/director Sam Jones. Off Camera airs on DirecTV's Audience channel 239 and is currently airing its twelfth season, as of August 19, 2019. Jones created the show out of his passion for the long-form conversational interview, and as a way to share his conversations with a myriad of artists, actors, musicians, directors, skateboarders, photographers and writers that pique his interest. The Streak was a period of 68 years over which Easton Area High School always produced at least one individual district champion in the sport of wrestling. From 1948 to 2015, Easton had 185 individual district wrestling champions, while never failing to have at least one champion, in any year. TKO Major League MMA is a Canadian mixed martial arts promotion originally broadcast on RDS and later on Fight Network. Formerly the Universal Combat Challenge (UCC) it was the first mixed martial arts promotion in Canada before eventually rebranding to TKO Major League MMA in 2003, for years it was the largest MMA promotion in Canada, before eventually going on hiatus for 8 years. The 1990 Allegheny Gators football team was an American football team that represented Allegheny College in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) during the 1990 NCAA Division III football season. The Gators compiled a 13–0–1 record, outscored opponents by a total of 442 to 171, and won the NCAC and NCAA Division III championships.
The 2003 Saint John's Johnnies football team represented Saint John's University as a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) during the 2003 NCAA Division III football season. In their 51st season under head coach John Gagliardi, the Johnnies compiled a 14–0 record and won the NCAA Division III championship.
