The 51st International Film Festival Rotterdam, is the 2022 edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which took place online from 26 January 2022 to 6 February 2022. [1] [2] The festival, which was held online for the second consecutive year due to the spread of the Omicron variant across Europe, [3] [4] opened with Amanda Kramer's film Please Baby Please . [5] The festival closed with the screening of 1967 sword fighting classic Dragon Inn by King Hu on 6 February 2022. [6]

International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is an annual film festival held at the end of January in various locations in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, focused on independent and experimental films. The inaugural festival took place in June 1972, led by founder Huub Bals. IFFR also hosts CineMart and BoostNL, for film producers to seek funding.
Binger Filmlab, formerly the Maurits Binger Film Institute, is an Amsterdam-based international feature-film and documentary development centre where screenwriters, directors, producers and script editors from around the world can be coached and supported by mentors and advisors.

Vipin Vijay is an Indian film director and screenwriter. He received his post-graduate degree in filmmaking from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute SRFTI, Calcutta. He received the Charles Wallace Arts Award for research at the British Film Institute, London, 2003. Vipin is the recipient of "The Sanskriti Award" (2007) for social & cultural achievement. His works are made under independent codes and defy any categorisation eluding all traditional genre definitions and merge experimental film, documentary, essay, fiction all into one.

Korakrit Arunanondchai is a video and multimedia artist originally from Bangkok who now splits his time between Brooklyn and Bangkok. He is best known for his 2017 installation, With history in a room filled with people with funny names 4, which received widely positive reviews and was recognized with an award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Rajee Samarasinghe is a Sri Lankan filmmaker and visual artist. His work explores a wide array of topics including the Sri Lankan Civil War, his family, and the deconstruction of documentary and narrative film.
The Dog Who Wouldn't Be Quiet is a 2021 Argentine absurdist drama film directed by Ana Katz and written by Gonzalo Delgado with Katz. The film stars Daniel Katz, Julieta Zylberberg, Valeria Lois, Mirella Pascual and Carlos Portaluppi.
Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash is a 2021 Indonesian action black comedy-drama film directed by Edwin who also co-wrote the screenplay with Eka Kurniawan based on Kurniawan's best-selling book of the same name. The 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam, was the 2021 installment of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which took place on 1–7 February 2021 and 2–6 June 2021. Jorge Thielen Armand is a film director, screenwriter and producer. He studied communications at Concordia University in Montreal, and later, with Rodrigo Michelangeli, founded the Canadian-Venezuelan film production company La Faena Films. He has directed two feature films, La Soledad and La Fortaleza, and the short film Flor de la Mar. All three films have received positive reviews from critics.

The 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam, is the 2024 edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which began on 25 January 2024. The festival opened with Head South a New Zealand film by Jonathan Ogilvie. The complete line-up of films competing in the festival was revealed on 18 December 2023. The festival closed on 4 February 2024 with La Luna by M. Raihan Halim.

Rei is a 2024 Japanese drama film directed by Toshihiko Tanaka. The film had its world premiere in the Tiger Competition section at the 2024 International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film also won the Tiger Award at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film opened to generally positive reviews from critics while the direction, screenplay and Ikeda Akio's cinematography were praised.
