Anastasios ("Tasos") Kourakis was a Greek pediatrician, geneticist and politician of the Coalition of the Radical Left (Syriza). From January 2015 until July 2019 he served as Alternate Minister of Education.

Olga-Nadia Valavani is a Greek politician and economist. She was appointed to the role of Alternate Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Alexis Tsipras on 27 January 2015. She resigned from this role on 15 July 2015, before a significant vote on the terms of a bailout package in the Hellenic Parliament.

A series of wildfires in Greece, during the 2018 European heat wave, began in the coastal areas of Attica in July 2018. 104 people were confirmed dead from the Mati fires. The fires were, at that time, the second-deadliest wildfire event in the 21st century, after the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires in Australia that killed 173.
