The 2024 season was the first season of the Suriname Major League, introducing professional football in Suriname. The season began on 23 February 2024. It is scheduled to conclude on 25 August. [1] [2]
The league's first goal was scored by Jamilhio Rigters of S.V. Robinhood, in the opening match on 23 February 2024 against S.V. Transvaal. [3]
S.V. Robinhood won their first title of the Suriname Major League, going unbeaten. [4]
Bintang Lahir withdrew from the league and Santos were relegated to the 2023–24 SVB Tweede Divisie. No team from the Tweede Divisie was promoted and the league was reduced from 14 teams to 10 teams.

Sport Vereniging Transvaal is a Surinamese association football club, which plays in the top of football in Suriname. They play their home games in Paramaribo at André Kamperveen Stadion to a capacity of 7,100.
André Kamperveen Stadium, formerly the National Stadion, is a multi-purpose stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname. Since its opening in 1953, the stadium has been the official home stadium of both football teams S.V. Transvaal and S.V. Robinhood and the official national stadium of the Suriname national football team. With an official capacity of 7,100, it is the largest stadium in Suriname.
Sport Vereniging Robinhood is a Surinamese professional football club based in Paramaribo that competes in the highest level of football in Suriname. Founded on 6 February 1945, Robinhood is the most successful club in Surinamese football, having won a record 25 league titles, and a record of five Beker van Surinames and President's Cups apiece. The club was the first Surinamese club to make the final of a North American tournament, reaching the 1972 CONCACAF Champions' Cup final. Though making five CONCACAF club championship finals in their history, Robinhood had never won a continental title until 2023, when they won both the 2023 Caribbean Shield and the 2023 Caribbean Cup.
The SVB Eerste Divisie is the second highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June of the next year, with teams playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was known as the Hoofdklasse but became Topklasse beginning with the 2016–17 season, and then from the 2017–18 season forward, the Eerste Divisie. In 2024 the SVB introduced a new professional competition while the Eerste Divisie will serve as the nations top amateur competition.

The 2014–15 Surinamese Hoofdklasse is the 82nd season of the SVB Hoofdklasse, the highest football league competition of Suriname. The season began in October 2014, and will finish in June 2015.
Roy Vanenburg is a Surinamese football manager and former player, who was last manager of Hoofdklasse club Transvaal. He spent most of his professional playing career with S.V. Transvaal, winning six Hoofdklasse titles, and two CONCACAF Champions Cups, finishing as the league top scorer in both 1968 and in 1971. He had previously played for H.V.V. and S.V. Robinhood before joining Transvaal in 1967.

Frank Mijnals is a Surinamese former football player who has played for S.V. Robinhood in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse, and for USV Elinkwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie. He also played for the Suriname national team.
Leo Schipper was a Surinamese football manager and player who played for NAKS, SV Transvaal, SV Robinhood and the Suriname national team. After his playing career he took on a coaching role with SV Robinhood, becoming manager of the club before passing the torch to Ronald Kolf.
The Parbo Bier Cup is a bi-annual International football tournament, which is organized by the Stichting Internationaal Voetbal Suriname (SIVS) of which former Surinamese-Dutch International Stanley Menzo is the chairman. The beer brewery Parbo is the sponsor of the tournament after which it was named.
Jules Theodorus Lagadeau was a Surinamese football player and manager who played for S.V. Transvaal in the Hoofdklasse and for the Suriname national team.
Iwan Otto "Pietje" Fränkel, was a Surinamese International football player who has played for Transvaal in the Hoofdklasse, Blauw-Wit in the Dutch Eredivisie, Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the Regionalliga West in West Germany, Royal Antwerp F.C. in the Belgian Eerste Klasse and for SC Amersfoort in the Dutch Eerste Divisie.
The 2016–17 Telesur Topklasse is the 84th season of top tier Suriname football league and 1st season of the Topklasse, the highest football league competition of Suriname. The season began in November 2016, and ended in June 2017. Telesur became official broadcaster and sponsor of the Topklasse before the start of this season.

The 2023 SVB Eerste Divisie was the 89th season of the SVB Eerste Divisie, the top division football competition in Suriname. The season had a delayed beginning, and began on 13 January 2023. It is scheduled to conclude on 30 July 2023. At the end of the season the new Suriname Major League was formed as the country's new top division.

The 2023 Suriname President's Cup was the 26th edition of the Suriname President's Cup. It was won by Robinhood who beat Inter Moengotapoe 3–0 in the final.
