The Kingdom of Nepal was a Hindu kingdom in South Asia, formed in 1768 by the expansion of the Gorkha Kingdom, which lasted until 2008 when the kingdom became the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. It was also known as the Gorkha Empire, or sometimes Asal Hindustan. Founded by King Prithvi Narayan Shah, a Gorkha monarch who claimed to be of Thakuri origin from chaubisi, it existed for 240 years until the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy in 2008. During this period, Nepal was formally under the rule of the Shah dynasty, which exercised varying degrees of power during the kingdom's existence.
Chhetri, historically called Kshettriya or Kshetriya or Khas are Nepali speaking Rajputs historically associated with the warrior class and administration, some of whom trace their origin to migration from medieval India. Chhetri was a caste of administrators, governors, warriors and military elites in the medieval Khas Kingdom and Gorkha Kingdom. The nobility of the Gorkha Kingdom mainly originated from Chhetri families. They also had a strong presence in civil administration affairs. The bulk of prime ministers of Nepal before the democratization of Nepal belonged to this caste as a result of the old Gorkhali aristocracy. Gorkha-based aristocratic Chhetri families included the Pande dynasty, the Basnyat dynasty, the Kunwar family and the Thapa dynasty.
The Prime Minister of Nepal is the head of government of Nepal. Together with their Council of Ministers, The Prime Minister exercises executive power in the country. The Prime Minister must enjoy the confidence in the Pratinidhi Sabha before being appointed by the President and shall resign if they are unable to retain the majority in the House.
National Investigation Department (NID) (Nepali: राष्ट्रिय अनुसन्धान बिभाग) is the main intelligence agency of Nepal collecting information about country’s public security, economic crimes, corruption, domestic and cross border terrorism, money laundering, narcotics, and human trafficking. NID works under the Office of The Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
The Government of Nepal is the federal executive authority of Nepal. Prior to the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy in 2006, it was officially known as His Majesty's Government.
Kaji was a title and position used by nobility of Gorkha Kingdom (1559–1768) and Kingdom of Nepal between 1768 and 1846. Many other contemporary kingdoms used the same title for their ministers.
Nepal Law Campus, originally called Nepal Law College, is the oldest college under the Faculty of Law of Tribhuvan University - the oldest and largest university of Nepal. Nepal Law Campus was established in 1954 by three professors of Tri-Chandra College under the leadership of Prof. Ram Raj Pant, who also served as its founding Principal. Two others instrumental in the establishment were Prof. Ratna Bahadur Bista and Prof. Ashutosh Ganguli. Initially, the College operated under the affiliation of Patna University of India. Before shifting to its present location at Exhibition Road in Kathmandu, the College operated as evening school at Durbar High School in Rani Pokhari, Kathmandu.
Khil Raj Regmi was the acting Prime Minister of Nepal from 2013 to 2014. Regmi has served as Chief Justice of Nepal since May 2011, having been appointed by President Ram Baran Yadav after the expiry of the term of his predecessor, Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha. In early 2013, the main political parties agreed to install Regmi as chairman of cabinet on a short-term basis, to oversee elections. He was sworn in on 14 March 2013 by President Yadav.
Regmi is a surname of Garhwali people, Kumaoni people, Nepali people of Brahmin caste. According to oral history passed down to the Regmi family through generations, it is believed that the surname originated in the far-western village of Regam, Bajhang, Nepal. It is believed that a king of Bajhang gave the village of Regam, to a Joshi which are Brahmin famous for their works in astrology and then their descendants were called as Regmi.

Vamsharaj Pande was a Nepalese politician, military officer and minister of state. He was a significant army commander of Kingdom of Nepal in the second half of the 18th century. He was a follower of Bahadur Shah of Nepal and had a significant rivalry with Swaroop Singh Karki.
On 14 March 2013, former Chief Justice of Nepal Khil Raj Regmi was sworn in as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal after the major parties of Nepal agreed to let an Independent politician lead the government and prepare the 2013 Nepalese Constituent Assembly election. It was agreed that Regmi had to hand over the power to the new Government of Nepal which would emerge from the elections slated for 21 June 2013 with the amendment that Regmi would keep heading the government until the actual government would be sworn in. Regmi appointed a technocratic Council of Ministers consisting of retired civil servants.
On 29 March 2011, after Jhala Nath Khanal stepped down as the 35th Prime Minister of Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai was elected the new prime minister by the Parliament of Nepal securing the votes of smaller parties of southern Nepal. Following his election, Bhattarai set up a coalition cabinet consisting of his Communist Party of Nepal as well the smaller parties Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Tarai-Madhesh Loktantrik Party, Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) and Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum, Nepal.
The Kunwar family was a noble Khas-Chhetri family in the Gorkha Kingdom and the Kingdom of Nepal. The Kunwars were linked to the Thapa dynasty and family of Amar Singh Thapa by marital lineages and, thus, to Pande dynasty through the Thapa dynasty. Three branches of the Kunwars; Ramakrishna, Jayakrishna and Amar Singh Kunwar were formed with opposite political aspirations. Bal Narsingh Kunwar supported Mukhtiyar Bhimsen Thapa while Chandrabir Kunwar supported Bada Kaji Amar Singh Thapa due to their marital relations with those families. Later, the Ramakrishna section of the family including Amarsingh established the Rana dynasty of Nepal and styled themselves as Rana Rajputs while Jayakrishna most section remained as Kunwars.
