The 2011 Brisbane International was a joint ATP and WTA tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane, Queensland. It was the 3rd edition of the tournament and took place at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson and was held from 2 to 9 January 2011. It was part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first grandslam of the year.

Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká were the defending champions, having defeated Melinda Czink and Arantxa Parra Santonja in the 2010 final, but they lost to the number 1 seeds, Cara Black and Anastasia Rodionova, in the quarterfinals.
Alisa Kleybanova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won this year's edition. They defeated Klaudia Jans and Alicja Rosolska in the final.

Caroline Wozniacki defeated Marion Bartoli in the final, 6–1, 2–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2011 Indian Wells Masters.

Agnieszka Radwańska defeated Andrea Petkovic in the final, 7–5, 0–6, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2011 China Open. This was the second consecutive year that the champion in Beijing also won the title in Tokyo.

Ana Ivanovic was the defending champion, but decided not to participate.

Petra Kvitová was the defending champion, but she decided to play at the Hopman Cup instead.

Li Na was the defending champion, but lost the final against Victoria Azarenka, 6–2, 1–6, 6–3.

Petra Kvitová defeated Li Na in the final, 7–5, 2–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2012 Canadian Open.

Venus Williams defeated Alizé Cornet in the final, 6–3, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2014 Dubai Tennis Championships. It was her 45th career WTA Tour title. She also extended her winning streak at the Dubai Tennis Championships to 15 matches, having previously won when she last played in 2009 and 2010.

Defending champion Serena Williams defeated Sara Errani in the final, 6–3, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2014 Italian Open.

Martina Hingis and Sabine Lisicki were the defending champions, but Lisicki chose to participate in the Hopman Cup instead. Hingis played alongside Sania Mirza and successfully defended her title, defeating Andrea Petkovic and Angelique Kerber in the final, 7–5, 6–1.

Agnieszka Radwańska defeated Johanna Konta in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2016 China Open.

Kristina Mladenovic was the defending champion, but lost in the final to unseeded Petra Kvitová, 1–6, 2–6. As a result, Kvitová became the first left-handed player to win a singles title in Russia. She was also the first wildcard to win the event.
