From onshore and offshore wind, to solar farms and battery storage systems, Ørsted is working to build out America’s clean energy supply chain. With every renewable energy project, we’re creating jobs for skilled laborers, boosting manufacturing, improving infrastructure, supporting shipbuilding and maritime industries, and investing in local communities. We aim to spread the economic benefits of clean energy across the U.S., creating a strong domestic supply chain that supports locally generated energy.

Expanding America’s offshore wind supply chain


At Ørsted, we’re building an American offshore wind industry, one grounded in domestic manufacturing, infrastructure, and innovation. From steelmaking, to shipbuilding, to cable manufacturing, we’re working with local suppliers and skilled tradespeople nationwide, creating jobs and investing in local economies across the country. These investments are crucial to expanding domestic renewable energy production and increasing American energy security.

  • Florida
    • Construction of the ECO Edison, the first American-made and -crewed service operations vessel, which will support construction of our Northeast offshore wind projects
  • Illinois
    • Manufacturing of generators for the ECO Edison, the first American-made and -crewed service operations vessel, which will support construction of our Northeast offshore wind projects
  • Kansas
    • Construction of the first American-made offshore wind energy substation by Kiewit Corporation, for our South Fork Wind offshore wind farm

    • $86 million investment in the manufacture of advanced foundation components by Riggs Distler & Company for our offshore wind farms

     

    • Manufacture of structural steelwork and secondary steel components by Ljungström for our South Fork Wind project
  • North Carolina
    • Fabrication of steel components for the ECO Edison, the first American-made and -crewed service operations vessel, which will support construction of our Northeast offshore wind projects
  • Ohio
    • Manufacturing of blasting and coating equipment for use in the monopile production facility built by steel manufacturer EEW
  • Pennsylvania
    • Contract to use Acadia, a $246 million scour installation vessel, with construction and assembly by Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation, in support of our Northeast offshore wind projects
  • South Carolina
    • $250 million investment in manufacture of submarine transmission cables by Nexans for our Northeast offshore wind projects
  • Rhode Island
    • Chartering of five crew transfer vessels made by Blount Boats to support our Northeast offshore wind projects

     

    • $100 million investment in port infrastructure and the development of an offshore wind hub at ProvPort

     

    • $1.8 million contract with HeliService USA to support helicopter assembly and infrastructure development at Quonset Port
  • Texas
    • Construction of the ECO Edison, the first American-made and -crewed service operations vessel, which will support construction of our Northeast offshore wind projects

     

    • Construction of the first American-made offshore wind energy substation by Kiewit Corporation, for our South Fork Wind offshore wind farm
  • West Virginia
    • Fabrication of steel for the ECO Edison, the first American-made and -crewed service operations vessel, which will support construction of our Northeast offshore wind projects
