Evaluation and review of UNCTAD implementation of the quadrennial conference outcome
The Secretary-General of UNCTAD will present a report on UNCTAD implementation of the quadrennial outcome. The report will be the basis for member States’ discussions, which may result in recommendations regarding implementation of the outcome document.
Interdependence and development strategies in a globalized world
Trade and Development Report, 2018: Power, Platforms and the Free Trade Delusion, will examine different aspects of the nature and role of international trade in the era of hyperglobalization and consider related policy challenges that will need to be addressed if trade is to contribute to a more stable and inclusive global economic order.
Economic development in Africa
The report provides an overview of research and analysis being undertaken by UNCTAD with regard to African development, as well as a summary of specific activities, including advisory services and technical cooperation, in each sector that falls under the mandate of UNCTAD.
Investment for development
The discussions will be informed by the latest UNCTAD research and policy analysis, which examine the challenges that countries at different development levels face in adapting their investment policies to the new industrial revolution and present policy options to make both industrial policies and investment policies work for sustainable development.
Report on UNCTAD assistance to the Palestinian people
The report highlights the rise in Palestinian unemployment, decline in per capita income, dependence on the Israeli economy and expansion of the Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and elaborates on the de-development of the Gaza Strip.
