Darren Aronofsky
Postcard From Earth Now Live
Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky was born and raised in Brooklyn.
Most recently, he directed the A24 film “The Whale” starring Brendan Fraser, who won a Best Actor Academy Award® for his performance. MacArthur winning playwright Samuel D. Hunter adapted the screenplay from his critically acclaimed play.
Aronofsky wrote and directed 2017’s “mother!” starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed Harris. The New York Times hailed the film calling it a “master class.” Before that, Aronofsky made “Noah,” the 2014 biblical epic starring Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly, and Emma Watson. It was a box office hit and Aronofsky’s largest opening.
In 2010, Aronofsky received a Best Director Academy Award® nomination for the indie box office phenomenon “Black Swan” starring Natalie Portman, who won a Best Actress Academy Award® for her performance. 2008’s “The Wrestler” was touted as a “bravura work of art” by Entertainment Weekly and “a film of authentic beauty and commanding consequence” by the Wall Street Journal. The film won Golden Globes for actor Mickey Rourke and singer/songwriter Bruce Springsteen. Aronofsky won the Golden Lion for the best film at the Venice Film Festival. He was the third American director to win that award in the oldest film festival in the world. Previous to that were the acclaimed and award-winning films “The Fountain” (2006), “Requiem for a Dream” (2000), and “π” (1998).
As a producer under his Protozoa label, Aronofsky has been responsible for “Jackie” which garnered three Academy Awards, the documentary “Some Kind of Heaven'' which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, artist Prune Nourry’s docu-memoir “Serendipity” which made its world premiere at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival, “Pacified” which won the Golden Shell top prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival, “Catch the Fair One'' which premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival where it won the Audience Award, and the documentary feature “The Territory” which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and won both the Audience Award and Special Jury Award for Craft in the World Cinema Documentary category as well as a Peabody in the Feature Documentary Film Category.
In 2021, he executive produced the six-part National Geographic docu-series, “Welcome to Earth” starring Will Smith as he explores some of the most intriguing and inaccessible corners of the planet. In 2018, Aronofsky executive produced both the Emmy-nominated National Geographic series “One Strange Rock” and the virtual reality experience “SPHERES: Songs of Spacetime.” The VR experience, featuring the voices of Jessica Chastain and Patti Smith, closed a record-breaking deal out of Sundance and won the Golden Lion.
In 2022, Aronofsky executive produced “The Good Nurse” starring Noah Emmerich, Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, the six-part series “Limitless” starring Chris Hemsworth for National Geographic, “Black Gold” for Paramount+, and “Kindred,” an adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s influential novel, for FX.
Aronofsky is an ardent supporter of the environment and sits on the boards of The Sierra Club and The School for Field Studies. Aronofsky has received humanitarian awards from PETA and The Humane Society of the United States, which honored him with its inaugural Humane Filmmaker Award.
Eagles
In the Fall of 1971, the EAGLES formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time. Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum. After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”
Anyma
Anyma (aka Matteo Milleri) is a world-renowned, multi-disciplinary artist whose melodic-techno beats, dreamy sounds, and one-of-a-kind audiovisual live experience has captivated the attention of millions. U2
Formed in Dublin in 1978, the band were marked out by their drive and ambition from the beginning. U2 has toured the globe countless times, released 15 studio albums, sold over 170 million albums and won numerous awards, including 22 Grammys and Amnesty International’s Ambassador of Conscience award. U2 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 and have twice been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song: in 2003 for ‘The Hands That Built America’ for Gangs of New York, and in 2014 for ‘Ordinary Love’ for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. U2’s fourteenth studio album Songs Of Experience – the companion release to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence - was released in December 2017 debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200, setting U2 apart as the only band in history to have topped the chart in four successive decades. In 2018, the U2 hit the road with the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour, an arena production which saw the band continue to push the creative boundaries of technology and engineering. And following 2017’s acclaimed stadium run with The Joshua Tree Tour - the record-breaking smash hit tour celebrating the band’s seminal 1987 album The Joshua Tree – The Joshua Tree Tour took U2 to New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, as well as bring “the biggest band in the world” (The Guardian) to Singapore, Seoul, Manila and Mumbai for the very first time. In 2020, SiriusXM and U2 announced the launch of U2 X-Radio, a complete immersion into the work and influences of the band from the Northside of Dublin, all curated by U2. Songs Of Surrender – a collection of 40 seminal U2 songs from across the band’s catalogue, re-recorded and reimagined for 2023 in sessions spanning the last two years – was released on Friday March 17th 2023, topping the album charts around the world including the UK and Ireland.
On 29th September last year, U2 lit up Las Vegas and once again pushed the boundaries of live performance as they kicked off their groundbreaking ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere’ shows launching the world’s most state-of-the-art venue, Sphere. U2:UV marked the band’s latest ambitious creative project and will saw them work once again with longtime U2 creative collaborator and show director Willie Williams, as well as artists including Es Devlin, John Gerrard and Marco Brambilla. The critically-acclaimed, history-making and future-defining show played to over 700,000 fans from 100+ countries across 40 sold-out dates from September 2023 through March 2024.
