Senior lecturer, University of Wollongong

Dr Thomas Birtchnell is currently a Senior Lecturer in Geography and Sustainable Communities at the University of Wollongong. Before UOW he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Lancaster University in the UK in a project titled Technologies and Travel funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) led by Professor John Urry. The research examined the past and future impacts of 3D printing on mobilities, travel and transport. He has published on a range of issues to do with mobilities in a global sense and 3D printing and grassroots innovation.
