Wendelbo is a development researcher specializing in complex emergency preparedness and response. He has experience working with inter-governmental institutions, as well as country and local governments to implement comprehensive response strategies to natural disasters.
His research focuses especially on how social vulnerabilities affect outcomes for people and households during and after disaster.
He holds a MA in International Affairs with a focus on International Development and Economic Policy from Texas A&M University, and a BA in Global Politics and Environmental Studies from Washington and Lee University. He is a research fellow at Center for Environmental Policy at American University and a research fellow at the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at Texas A&M.
