Christopher Drovandi

Professor of Statistics, Queensland University of Technology

Dr Christopher Drovandi currently holds the position of Professor at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and is a Program Director in the QUT Centre for Data Science. Dr Drovandi is an Associate Editor of Statistics and Computing, a high-profile statistical journal.

Dr Drovandi's main research area is in computational statistics, dealing with statistical models of complex processes in biology, medicine, ecology and finance that were previously considered intractable. He is also interested in the translation of novel statistical methods to a wide range of applied disciplines. His research has generated over 70 publications in international peer-reviewed outlets such as journals, book chapters and conference proceedings.

Dr Drovandi has secured close to $2 million of competitive research funding as the lead investigator. In 2022, he will commence an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship in advanced computational statistics methods. In 2020, he was awarded an Australian Research Council Discovery Project and in 2016 he was the recipient of an ​Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award.
