I am an Lecturer in International Politics at Lancaster University.
My research interests are divided into two areas.
My primary research focuses on all aspects of authoritarian rule. I investigate why some autocracies live longer than others and why some of them democratise while others don't.
My secondary research explores the reasons why some people tend to dislike immigrants and minorities while others do not. I also investigate how that prejudice links in with their likelihood to support more authoritarian forms of power.
