Bridging the gap between sports law theory and practice, my work focusses on advancing athlete safety and good governance in sports. I bring a blend of academic rigor and practical legal experience to the field of sports law and governance. My 2024 book "The Brain Matters: Regulating concussion in sport-related injures" (LexisNexis) tis based on my doctoral studies and examines sport-related concussion concerns as a regulatory challenge.
I am interested in understanding different perspectives and formulating a framework that balances private and public interests in addressing participation barriers and ensuring access to an optimally safe sports system. Consistent with the multiple perspectives in addressing sport-related phenomena, I am interested in working with academics from other disciplines and industry partners on transdisciplinary research that translates into real and practical solutions.
At the Faculty of Law at Bond University, I teach Global Sports Law & Governance, Sports Law, Corporate Law, Tort Law and Contemporary Issues in Law and Society. I am General Editor of the Sports Law and Governance Journal and Co-Director of the Centre for Commercial Law and Governance. I coach the Bond University Sports Arbitration Moot team, who consistently rank in the top #10 in the SAM competition.
My legal practice career involved senior management roles in small, medium and large law firms, including Special Counsel at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. I am on the board of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association (ANZSLA), the peak sports law representative organisation.
