MediaWiki talk:Sidebar
Appearance
I think we should put a link to Wikipedia:Simple talk on this sidebar, so that people can find it or reach it easily from anywhere. --Cromwellt|talk 21:39, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Anyone agree with my previous comment here? How about we do it? Admins? --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 16:47, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Simplification of sidebar
[change source]I'd suggest that we simplify "recent changes" to "new changes" and "random page" to "go to any page". How does that sound?-- Tdxiang 15:23, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, we already have that on the sidebar. The remaining complex links cannot be removed as they are part of the core software and so would break the sidebar if they were changed. Hope this helps. Regards, Goblin 15:25, 19 July 2009 (UTC) I ♥ GoblinBots!
- We shouldn't rename the tools of the MediaWiki software like Bluegoblin7 said; it might affect the sidebar and other parts of the wiki. Although I would like to say you can change how it displays, in this case it is already done as 'new pages' and 'show any page' in the sidebar to the left. иιƒкч? 07:34, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- There's nothing that needs changing. The stuff on the left hand side of the pipes (|) is core software and cannot be changed - that on the right is what is seen and it is all already simple. Regards, Goblin 11:29, 20 July 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Fr33kman!
- U wot? Yes they can. Mediawiki:mainpage, Mediawiki:portal-url, Mediawiki:recentchanges-url, Mediawiki:randompage-url, Mediawiki:helppage, Mediawiki:sitesupport-url. —MC8 (b · t) 21:27, Thursday July 23 2009 (UTC)
- That's not what either of us are referring to (I think)! Those are the links that the pages click through to - from what I understood Tdxiang wanted the actual part saying "sitesupport-url" and "sitesupport" changing to something simpler - which isn't possible without making some hacks to the core software, and that's uneeded as they have already been translated on the pages that they click through to. Hope this clears that up. Goblin 07:40, 24 July 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Chenzw!
