Exilarch

The exilarch[a] was the leader of the Jewish community [en] in Persian Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) for most of the time from the Parthians era, Sassanid Empire, and the Abbasid Caliphate, until the Mongol invasion of Baghdad in 1258.
