Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS)

Overview

Illinois Fire Departments are required by state law to report all incidents, including medical incidents, to the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) which is administered by the United States Fire Administration.  Data submission can be done in one of two ways:

  • Direct Entry using the web-based reporting tool.
  • Importing data from third party vendor software.

All NFIRS applications are now web-based and Microsoft Edge web-browser is recommended when accessing the website.

To access the NFIRS system, please visit https://nfirs.fema.gov. If you do not have an NFIRS username yet, please click on "Register as a State & Local User".  After registering, we will activate you usually within one to two business days.

Contact NFIRS

Please contact our office if you have any questions or issues about your NFIRS reporting. Please include your FDID number when you fill out the contact form.
