We Can Do Hard Things
Life is freaking hard. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing; caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, author of UNTAMED; her wife Abby Wambach; and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things including sex, gender, parenting, blended families, bodies, anxiety, addiction, justice, boundaries, fun, quitting, overwhelm . . . all of it. We laugh and cry and help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, free-er, less alone.

Joy Joy Joy I have listened to you since the beginning of the podcast, taking breaks only when the stack up of self-improvement wisdom was too much! I am 68 so was curious about what was said in the sometimes hilarious episode. All I can say is 50s and late 60s are different! I recently went to see a special doctor. She looked 40ish, dressed in a beautiful, earthy colors. After my pre-op exam, I quipped that getting old wasn’t great but better than the alternative. She turned to me: “Your only job now is JOY JOY JOY!” Her hands up flew up in the air emphasizing each word. This directive has lifted me countless times in the weeks since. I just had to pass it along. Becca in VT
Glennon’s Therapy Sessions

This show has some really great guests. That is mainly why I listen. This podcast consists mainly of Glennon asking questions about her own diagnoses or problems, such that the guests never get to the real practical lessons for everyone. I appreciate Abby and Amanda’s insights because I think they really try to go broad but Glennon dominates the conversation and brings it back to her issues - things that are not universally applicable. I also feel like contrary to the “we can do hard things” theme, they sometimes demonstrate “we can wallow about things that didn’t go our way.” I am so politically aligned with them in most everything but they preach how terrible things are instead of positive steps to adjusting to a bad outcome, even a temporary situation.
Stiffening our spines

Love the podcast and this episode was the one I needed to help me see a positive path forward despite losing nearly a century of progressive gain. I am grieving still, but my spine is stiffer and we will persevere. #BetterTogether
every third episode is genius

don’t get me wrong every episode is great but the amount of genius episodes is unbelievable. Ive recommended it as “this podcast has the warmth and humor of a cozy morning show but the material is ENTIRELY different.”
