- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
; 'EMIL DREWS, or PFORZHEIM, GERMANY.
' f BRACELET.
Be it known that I, EMIL Dnnws, manu-. facturer, a subject of the Grand Duke of lBaden, residin at Pforzheim, in the Grand lDuchy-of Ba en, German have invented certain new and useful mprovements 1n Bracelets, of which thefollowing is a speci-.
fication.
The present invention relates to abracelet which 1s adjustablein size and on which an ornament-for example, a watchs-can be at tached 1n an easily-detachable manner.
- clampin device hereinafter described. Fig;
5 f may not injure the band, a
One embodiment of the resent invention lgure 1 1s a side elevation ofa bracelet provided with a watch according to the pres ent mvention. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same.
Fig. 3 shows thefbracelet in the osition in which the ornament can be detached fi'om the band. Fig. 4, is a detail view of the 5 is a si e elevation of theattachmentestirrups for theornament.
As an exam le of an ornament connected with the ban of the bracelet a watchhasi .been selected. 1
The bracelet consists of a band a, of leather, metal, or other suitable material, which may be of any suitable form and which may be decorated. The one end b ofthe band is provlded with a locking member, such as a stirrup or link a, through which the other end (1 of the band passes freely. The end d of the band likewise possesses a stirrup or linke, which encompasses or s ans round the band a. In the stirrup or lin e a clamping-leverf is arran ed, which is revoluble' about the pin 4 g, and t e noseh of which, on the lever being depressed, is pressed against the surface of the under band 0, whereby the end 11 of the'band' is clamped against the band a, and "consequently the size of the bracelet is determined.- In order that the nose h of the clamping-lever 'ressure-plate '5 may be provided which may e attached under the nose onthe end (i of the band or on thestirrup 6. (See Fig. 4.) The stirrup c, which may be suitably'fastened on the end I) of the band by means-of a hinge 7c, Figs. 1 and 3, is in its up er part in the form of a yoke Z. A similar locIring member in the form ofa stirrup n, having a yoke m, is arranged freely Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed November 28, 1904. Serial No. 234,557.
Patented Feb. 6, 1906.
v is connected with the bracelet. For this purpose securing members, such as T-shaped p vots are arranged on the ornament.
When t ese' ivots p occupy the osition represented in ig.3,'theycan be pus edthrou h the recesses q of the two yokes Z and m. f the pivots p, to ether with the ornament, are turned roun through ninety degrees, the cross-pieces of the pivots 1) pass behind the shanks or a, respectively, of the yokes Z and m, and the ornament is firmly connected with the band lying tightly against the: arm. In. order to detach the ornament, the band after having been taken oil the arm is-bent slightly at its part which is under the ornament, andthe ornament is turned into an upright position, whereby the pivots p are once more able to leave the yokes lm.
In the'drawings a clamping-lever is represented for fastening the oneend of the band upon the other; Instead of this clamping lever, however, any other suitable device can be employed. Likewise the ornament, the watch, or the like can be connected with the band or strap in anyother manner.
What I claim is- I 1. A device having securing members thereon, an adjustable'bandand means on the band whereby said band, device and means cooperate to hold the device in posi tion on the band, said means engaging the securing .members and the .band sliding throu h the means.
2. flexible band and a device to be secured: thereto. and provided with securing members in combination with members one of which is connected to one end of the bandand the --otherslidable thereon, said lastnamed members adapted to engage the securing members.
3. A device 'havin securing members thereon, a flexible ban a member hinged to one end'of the band and a similar member free to slide on the band and said last-named memberswngaging the securing members,
.whreby said device, members and band 00- operate to hold the device in position on the band. g
4. A bracelet comprisin a flexible band, an ornament, and means looking the ornament to the band and necessitating flexure of the latter and. rotation of the ornament to disconnect the same from the band.
5.'A bracelet comprisin a flexible band, anornament, and means locking the ornament to the band and necessitating flexure of the latter and rotation of the ornament to disconnect the same from the band; in combination With means for adjusting and looking the band to the arm.
6. A bracelet comprising a flexible band, an ornament of greater Width than the Width of said band, locking devices for detachably locking the ornament to the band consisting of members on the band and ornament cooperating to hold the latter in contact With the band and to require flexure of said band and rotation of the ornament to disengage the latter from the locking members on the band.
7. A bracelet comprising a band, and locking devices forlocking an ornament thereto so organized as to require rotation of said ornament to disengage the same from the locking members on the band and thereby release the slidable member, said devices consisting of two locking members on the band, one of which is slidable thereon, and cooperating locking members on the ornament.
8. The combination With an ornament having T-shaped members thereon, a band and two locking members thereon having T- shaped slots, said band passing through the head of the slots and the-members held in the stem of the slots.
9. The combination with an ornament having T-shaped members thereon, a band, tWo locking members having T-shaped slots, and one of them secured to one end of the band and the other adapted to slide on the band, said band passing through the heads of the slots, and a clasp to fasten the free end of the band to its body.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of twosubscribing Witnesses.
. EMIL DREWS.
