Abstract
PURPOSE:To cut torque transmission, work effectively ABS and improve the durability of a power transmitter in a four-wheel drive car provided with ABS by releasing a second friction clutch from engagement in braking. CONSTITUTION:When ABS works in quick braking of a vehicle, torque transmitted to front and rear wheels needs to be cut. Then, a second friction clutch 7 is released from engagement, i.e. when oil sent from a hydraulic device is changed over to discharge pressurized oil from a cylinder chamber 75, contact pressure of respective frictional plates 61, 63 is released and only preload due to an elastic member 73 remains. Also, then, a first friction clutch 5 is not turned on since the internal pressure of a viscous coupling is not increased. As a result, power from an inner hub 11 of input shaft is not transmitted to the output shaft 27 side, and ABS works effectively to prevent four wheels from simultaneous locking in quick braking or the like.
