CONSTITUTION:As an ion exchange membrane, a cation exchange membrane generally having a cation exchange group such as a sulfonic acid group, a carboxylic acid group or the like as well as based on fluorocarbon is pref. As an ion. radical compound as an etchant, an alkali metal compound of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon such as Na-naphthalene, Na-stilbene, Na-anthracene or the like or an alkali compound of amine such as Na-ammonia or the like is pref. A defatted and dried exchange membrane is immersed in the etchant and, thereafter, washed sufficiently.
