Abstract

PURPOSE: To use energy efficiently through change of the connecting gear ratio in a planetary gear mechanism by a method wherein energy is accumulated in a fly wheel by increasing the speed of rotation of a driving shaft when the car speed is reducing and energy is released to the driving shaft by reducing the speed of rotation of the fly wheel when the car speed is increasing.
CONSTITUTION: A ring gear 11 is combined solidly with an engine crank shaft 1. When the car speed is reducing, the kinematic energy of the car transmitted through a driving shaft 2 is transmitted from a sun gear 7 to the fly wheel 5 through a planet gear 9 and when the car speed is increasing the rotary force of the fly wheel 5 is transmitted to the ring gear 11 through a sun gear 8, a planet gear 10 and released to the driving shaft 2. Between the sun gears 7, 8 and a hollow shaft 4 are provided a one-way clutches 12, 13 which operate in the opposite direction to each other and a damper 17 is installed on a diskplate 15 to support the planet gears 9, 10.
