Cleveland Clinic Is Much More Than a Healthcare Organization
We are part of the social fabric of the community, creating opportunities for those around us and making the communities we serve healthier.
We are listening to our neighbors to understand their needs, now and in the future. The health of every individual affects the broader community.
According to the National Academy of Medicine, only 20% of a person’s health is related to the medical care they receive. There are other factors that have a lifelong impact, accounting for 80% of a person’s overall health. These social determinants of health are conditions in which people grow, work and live – including employment, education, food security, housing, life expectancy, chronic diseases, infant mortality, substance abuse and several others (World Health Organization).
In order to address these health disparities, we lead efforts in clinical and non-clinical programming, advocacy, building partnerships, sponsorship and community investment. We are actively partnering with community leaders to help strengthen community resources and mitigate the impact of these social determinants of health. By engaging with partners who share our commitment, we can make a difference in creating a better, healthier community for everyone.
Cleveland Clinic promotes physical and economic health. We heal as a leader in public health and continuous patient care. We hire, developing the local workforce, with outreach to our youth. And, we invest through community benefits and charitable partnerships. Our commitment to giving back will enhance our region for generations.
