Tupaia ialah sebuah genus tupai muncung dalam keluarga Tupaiidae.[1]:104
Taksonomi
[sunting | sunting sumber]Genus ini julung kali digambarkan oleh Thomas Stamford Raffles pada 1821.[1][2][3] daripada perkataan tupai dipakai kepada spesies tupai sebenar dalam keluarga Sciuridae atau binatang lain yang mirip.[4]
Pengelasan
[sunting | sunting sumber]Ketika Diard dan Duvaucel menggambarkan spesimen sulung tupai muncung besar, Tupaia glis pada 1820, mereka menganggapnya spesies Sorex.[5] T. everetti dimasukkan kembali ke dalam genus ini daripada Urogale, yang kemudian dibubarkan berdasarkan filogeni molekul 2011.[6]
