Translation combination boxes

[edit]

The following text was copied from Meta:Babel#Translation_combination_boxes. As an active translator, it may be of any interest to you:

Hi, Sabine worked on new boxes for translators. They aim at giving information about translation combination: say, I can translate from English to French, from Italian to Spanish, and so on. It would help us to know who can translate what, in what, to streamline the translation process. The boxes do not provide information about your level (wether you are a professional translator or not, for example); you may write something about this point in your user page (very useful as well). A few boxes are available, be bold and create those you need :) Be aware we use ISO 639-3 codes for languages (fra and not fr, eng and not en, ...).

Please see "Translator in the following language combinations" and pick up templates for your user page!
This message was pasted on several User talk pages of active translators.

Thank you :)

Kontribisyon nan pwojè Dikyonè an

Bonjou,

Mwen administratè nan wikipedya ak wikisource ayisyen.

Mwen mande nou sèlman edite chak fwa nou vini, yon ti mo, yon ti pawòl nan wiksyonè a. Mete lyen an nan paj itilizatè ou.

Mwen komanse yon ti fòm pou fasilite edisyon nou yo.

Contribution in the devloppment of the haitian creole wiktionary

Hi,

I'm admin in Haitian creole wikipedia and wikisource. I'm continuing the devlopment of the future haitian creole wiktionary. I'd like it to be a place where all questions of vocabulary could be solve quickly. Many of us are looking for a correct definition, vocabulary, sentence, or a large source of information concerning a word but remain disappointed due to lack of this information.

I'd like to invite you to contribute to the devlopment of this project. It's currently under aproval because we need contributors for editing the beta version (at http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/wt/ht ). The discussions with the admins are at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wiktionary_Haitian_Creole.

your first contribution could be very short, that's not a problem (for instance "Frans se yon peyi" will be sufficient for the first definition for France)

How to do it ?

thank you for your contribution.

Problem with merging my en-account

[edit]

Hi Dungodung! I tried to merge my user-accounts (als, de, Commons, en) but the en-account does not work, allthough I have the same password in all projects. My username I gave in was allways al-Qamar, but the projects interpreted it in e various way, Al-qamar (als, de, Commons) but Al-Qamar on en (such a computermade name-changing is really a bug!). So it makes no sense to merge the accounts. My question now is, does a renaming to al-Qamar (all letters small but the Q, which should be big) in all projects affect my history in the als-Wikipedia, where I am sysop (als:Benutzer:Al-qamar), since I consider it important to have the full history "at hand". If there is no harm, I would like to ask you, to do the changes, otherwise it may be better, not to merge the accounts and to do no changes at all. --al-Qamar 18:50, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

RE: User:SpamReportBot/cw

[edit]

The problem was that there were some bad regex's added to the blacklist by User:Werdna. This caused some links inside of the template Template:LinkSummary to be blacklisted, which resulted in everything on meta with that template being uneditable. Thanks - however if it only affects a single wiki then it should be listed on that wikis blacklist. A number of people feel rather strongly about the list only being used for cross wiki spamming. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 16:39, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hopefully this should take you where you want to be. All wikis have them now & a local wiki can put what they like in there (I guess the "locals" should know what is happening). We were trying to get sysop for both, so we can (finally ;-) get some larger community; Mohammed is assuming I have the bits too now ... ;-) (see wikt:sw:Wiktionary:Wakabidhi) I've been trying for a while to get more contributors, have an organizational meeting tomorrow. (RL meeting, in person ;-) Robert Ullmann 23:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to be a bit vague. More specifically, I have been working for a long time to get a small team of contributors, mostly from Kenyatta University, put together to add a large number of entries. It is a chicken-and-egg problem as I'm sure you know, it doesn't look like there is anything there (or even anything to do ;-) until there is something significant there. We were about ready to go at the start of the yea, but there were problems here you are probably aware of; when people are getting taken out of vehicles and hacked to death on the Thika Road (where the university is) there are other priorities. I have in the meantime gotten the interface basics done in Betawiki and loaded, and set up a few other things.
All good now, a team leader has been making some entries. I am the administrator, we have a number of people who are native speakers of Swahili, fluent in English, native in half a dozen of the other languages. (Looking for Arabic, not found yet, but Luhya, Kikiyu, Luo, I think Maasai, so on). We have an organizational meeting this afternoon.
I need to clean out the old (pre Mediawiki: NS) cruft from the template namespace; fix various things. I need to add a couple of templates "borrowed" from the en.wikt that require CSS and Javascript support added to common.css and monobook.js; probably a few more I haven't thought of yet. And there is cleaning up the inevitable mistakes that will be made (;-)
We should be adding English and Swahili for 5-10K words at first, other languages to Swahili (as noted) as well. See how it goes. Thanks, Robert Ullmann 05:27, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ruwikibooks admins

[edit]

Hi, I have a question about policy of granting sysop rights on small wikis. We have 'RfA' page on the ruwikibooks (see [4]), but there are not so many active editors who wish to vote on those RfA, so such election can be rather long. As far as I understand (see the topic about Loyna above), the stewards grant only temporary sysop permissions on ruwikibooks even if the person was elected during RfA. So I wonder, do we really need to have this 'RfA' page, or the person who wish to obtain temporary sysop rights only have to requests such a rights on the meta? Should the person be elected during RfA for the first time, get their temporary rights, and then restore the rights with a request on meta? Could you clarify the procedure here.

Thanks! (I watch your talkpage, you can answer me here, if you wish.) Ilya Voyager 19:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Username change

[edit]

Hi there; I saw you working with users to change their user names over at Steward requests/Username changes. I was wondering if it requires me to change my name at every project I'm involved in? It would be much easier if my global account name could be changed, since I'm involved in at least 5 or 6 projects. Let me know what I should do. Thanks in advance. Hello. Thanks for your message at my talk page concerning IRC cloak. I don't know how to register my nick. I joined the #wikipedia channel and type "/msg MemoServ send wmfgc IRC cloak request" + enter key, but the result is "<chat.freenode.net:MemoServ> (MemoServ) You are not logged in.". Could you please tell me how can I register my nick and login?? Thanks in advance! --Penn Station 17:12, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello Penn Station! To register your nick, you should type /msg nickserv help register and then follow the instructions there. After you do that, you can send the MemoServ command. Cbrown1023 talk 17:14, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hello. finally I confirmed the IRC clock works fine. Thanks a lot! ... however, the clock name is "wikipedia/penn-station" instead of "wikimedia/pennstation" (not wikiPedia, without "-") which is my original requested name. Does this mean my requested name was denied? I'd like to use "wikimedia/pennstation" if possible.. Sorry for disturbing you again. --Penn Station 07:14, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
We have on our spreadsheet that you wanted wikipedia/ (but you said you were from the ja.wikimedia project, so maybe you inputted the wrong thing). So you say you actually wanted wikimedia/ ? About "/pennstation" — do you own pennstation? Since your username is Penn Station and the cloak is supposed to directly correspond to your username (spaces/underscores become hyphens), we used penn-station. However, if you own pennstation too and provide a diff confirming that, we can change your cloak to that. Cbrown1023 talk 14:36, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Actually, we have both wikimedia/ and wikipedia/ entries, since you applied twice. I guess that's why there was confusion about this. --FiliP ██ 14:48, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the confusion.. It seems that I applied twice and input wrong data. Yes, I want "wikimedia/" because of the scope of my activities, and understood the name had to be directly correspond to my account name. So, could you please change it to "wikimedia/penn-station"? --Penn Station 04:48, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi Dungodung. I've just confirmed it had been changed to "wikimedia/". Much appreciated your help! --Penn Station 08:59, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fundraising Translators

[edit]

Hi Dungodung, my name is Deniz and I am working for the Wikimedia Foundation during the 2010 Fundraiser. My job is to be your liaison between the Serbian community and the Foundation. This year's fundraiser is intended to be a collaborative and global effort, we recognize that banner messages that perform well in the United States don't necessarily translate well, or appeal to international audiences. I'm contacting you as I am currently looking for translators who are willing to contribute to this project, translating messages into Serbian and suggesting messages that would appeal to Serbian readers on the Fundraising Meta Page. Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping with this project, and add your feedback to the proposed messages as well! I look forward to working with you during this year's fundraiser. --Dgultekin 20:05, 7 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Što na ovo misle stujarti

[edit]

--Vitek 19:49, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
PS.

Formal request to members of STW election committee

[edit]

I formally request votes from riffic to be discarded from the final tally since he has self admitted he's sabotaging the vote using his blanket votes as a protest mean, then polluting the actual numbers regarding the candidates trust. 187.134.190.196 18:03, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Possibly inappropriate vote strike

[edit]

My vote was stricken by you in the steward elections with the rationale that there was no link from my account to my home wiki. My userpage however has had a link to my account on en.wiki since I first created this meta account in 2007. If there is more I need to do I'm more then willing to perform some sort of additional verification. --Mask 12:04, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the note. Is this acceptable enough evidence? --Mask 23:08, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Why would it not be acceptable? What more of an edit could be provided? And i understand you not changing the tally, although I am starting a discussion on Foundation-l and Wikipedia-l about whats wrong with our voting and our vote counters when an editor in good standing with a linked en account going back more then 6 years plus many thousands of edits and with verification on the meta userpage that met requirements the last time i voted on meta wasn't even notified that a fix would be required to have my vote counted. --Mask 23:49, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Avoiding putting what link up? My meta userpage has linked to my en userpage since 2007, and now the top of my usertalk at en links to my meta account. 'It's time consuming' is frankly not a good enough answer for why this is not now compliant. My userpage is my userpage and it will display what I wish. I have a prominent display on the top of my usertalk page linking to my userpage on this wiki. Your characterization of the lack of effort put out by election stewards is I hope a wild exaggeration, I can't see how you expect to manage a project if you cant be bothered to read a talkpage. --Mask 16:14, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Would this be solved by having my link from meta to en point to my usertalk instead of my userpage? --Mask 16:16, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've pointed my link from meta to my talkpage, the link back to meta should be the first thing they see and that's going to have to carry the day the next time we have elections. While I feel that leaves the issue with this years elections closed, before I go I just want to mention... I'm not sure what to call it. You've been patient, and while opaque were not unhelpful and obviously trying to give me hand. I appreciate that. If I may plant something of a seed in your head that you can let kick around for a bit though in regard to the 'rules are the rules' bit. Ignore all rules seems pretty important on Meta. On en it's one of our Five Pillars, and our oldest policy. Some users tend to be slightly uncomfortable with it and assume people use it to do whatever they want but there's really some simple beauty to it. Rules are a means to an end and if somehow they end up getting in the way of advancing that goal or the general project you can ignore them without disrespecting them if it's to make happen the goal they strive for. If a rule set up to help gauge the consensus of the community of wikimedians ends up preventing that result it may need to be bent or even broken from time to time to achieve that goal. --Mask 01:36, 12 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Translator, We need you!

[edit]

Dear Dungodung,

You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.

Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.

If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.

Many Thanks

"PermissionOTRS" za sliku sa sajta Radio Svetigora

[edit]

Zdravo Dungodung!

Adjustment of permissions on IRC channels

[edit]

I recently resigned from being a CU in the only project in which I was a CU (Persian Wikipedia). Because fawiki only had two CUs at the time, User:Adler.fa also lost his CU access with me.

I believe this is enough grounds for me to lose my access to #wikimedia-checkuser channel (and same for Adler). My IRC username is Hojjat, and his is Adler_fa.

Also, I believe my access to #wikimedia-privacy should be revoked for the same reason. I'm afraid Adler has to retain his access to that channel, because he is still an oversighter in fawiki.

Please take care of necessary changes at your earliest convenience. Thanks in advance, Huji 04:18, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is it allowed in Wikipedia?

[edit]

To keep in the pages of wiki Administrator's personnel thesis? at http://sd.wikipedia.org ? Other problem is We call Computer as same in English, but admin forcibly used his word Ganpukar of Computer. I have proof that thousands of published books called it Computer not Ganpukar. If some one oppose him he started abusive language. That is the reason sd.wikipedia.org never got attraction to Sindhi community. Plz check record there. Other things are he locked CSS due to that on the same site there are lot of font styles appeared there. He is not able to set commonCSS or Monocss. We are in trouble to work in our local Sindhi language. I don't know where to say for this problem. Record history says all the situation there. I appeal plz warn him to follow en.wikipedia.org rules, other wise he will continue use his personnel details and personnel promoted articles there. Dear I am sorry If u r not right person to say all about this, Plz suggest me where I can raise this issue. My sd.wikipedia.org ID is same. This barnstar is given to you for your help with the 2011 fundraiser translation.

Hi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.

And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.

Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 13:27, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

--FriedrickMILBarbarossa 03:02, 28 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia IRC Cloak

Hi,

Is the cloak is ok for me ? here your message. Thanks by advance. Automatik (talk) 14:38, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I received the message : "Spoofing your IP. congrats." But, when I tape "/whois Automatik", I can find the following info in the box who appears : "~Manu@bdv75-3-here-is-my-ip.fbx.proxad.net". Is it normal?
Furthermore, each connection I can see the following text :
(21:36:50) NickServ: (notice) This nickname is registered.
Please choose a different nickname, or identify via /msg NickServ identify <password>.
(21:36:50) NickServ: (notice) You are now identified for Automatik.
I Don't understand why.
Do you have an idea?
Thaks by advance. Automatik (talk) 21:24, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi,
Is this still planned? Cordially, Automatik (talk) 23:59, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the cloak. Is it normal that I've a window called "NickServ" which appears on each connection and which says: «(14:58:16) NickServ: (notice) This nickname is registered. Please choose a different nickname, or identify via /msg NickServ identify <password>. (14:58:16) NickServ: (notice) You are now identified for Automatik.» It seems strange. Thanks by advance if you've an idea or if you can indicate me an help. Automatik (talk) 13:03, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I understand that I've to identify at every connection (with Pidgin, the connection is automatic), but I don't understand why the client tells me every time : «Please choose a different nickname» whereas it always told me then that I am logged in as my nickname. Everyone sees it? Thanks for your help. Automatik (talk) 18:49, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Chapters Survey

[edit]

Hello Dungodung,

I would like to invite you and your chapter to take a part in a survey on WM Chapters. As I briefly explained, it is an effort agreed during WCA meetings, taken to start gathering information about us and present it visibly. First presentation will be given in Hong Kong.

I know it is an additional work and the survey could use more elaboration, but someone needed to start it. Survey can be responded on a dedicated meta subpage or in other form if it is more suitable for the chapter. Your subpage is here.

Thanks for your help,

Wiki Loves Pride

[edit]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

  • What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
  • When? June 2015
  • How can you help?
1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Wikipedia articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome!

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing!

Did you ever attend Wikimania with your money? Talk to us!

[edit]

TL;DR: Fill a short Wikimania survey, it takes 5 min.

Hi, I'm writing you because you are listed in Wikimania/Frequent attendees. As you probably know by now, Wikimania 2016 Esino Lario wants to achieve a Wikimania format which allows people to "get things done" and leave the conference fully satisfied with the result of their investment of time and other resources (see pillars 2 and 4: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2016_bids/Esino_Lario/Pillars ). For this purpose, we consider all audiences (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2016_bids/Esino_Lario/Program#Target ).

Participants other than scholarship recipients and reimbursed representatives are one group we heard very little from, but we think they are important because: 1) they have financial resources and help make the Wikimania budget sustainable; 2) they have motivation to share and ideas on what makes Wikimania valuable.

We set up a form mainly to collect names of some such people and talk with them later: if you provide your contact, we may write you on this topic. We may release aggregate data from the resposes; data will be handled by us and the Wikimania 2016 fiscal sponsor "Ecomuseo delle Grigne" (under EU law). Please fill the whole form, it's short!

Feel free to forward this invite to anyone.

Thanks,

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that OTRS volunteers sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an OTRS volunteer and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access. OTRS volunteers have a specific agreement available, if you have recently signed the general confidentiality agreement for another role (such as CheckUser or Oversight), you do not need to sign the general agreement again, but you will still need to sign the OTRS agreement.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum(_AT_)wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your OTRS access. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review

[edit]

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

(Opt-out Instructions) This message was sent by I JethroBT (WMF) (talk · contribs) through MediaWiki message delivery.

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018

[edit]

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Kind regards

Taking over the #wikispore channel

[edit]

Hi Dungodung!
(This message is sent to the other IRC group contacts as well.)

We'd like to take over the #wikispore channel for use by the Wikispore project. It was used by the community of the Spore video game Wikia, but they have moved on to Discord and the IRC channel has been pretty much unused since mid-2017. The channel owner has been inactive on Freenode for over two years and I couldn't identify their wiki account or other contact details. I asked one of the Discord admins about taking over the channel and they said it's OK (admittedly this is a bit short of giving notice to the community).

How should we proceed? --Tgr (talk) 17:57, 31 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Queering Wikipedia 2023 conference

[edit]

Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group and the organizing team of Queering Wikipedia is delivering the Queering Wikipedia 2023 Conference for LGBT+ Wikimedians and allies, as a hybrid, bilingual and trans-local event. It is online on 12, 14 and 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia #IDAHOBIT, with offline events at around 10 locations on 5 continents in the 5-day span as QW2023 Nodes.

The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.

If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so. Our working languages are English and Spanish, with possible local language support at sites of Nodes.

Registration for the online event is free and is open until Wednesday May 10th at 18:00 UTC, for safety protocol. Late event registration approval and event access denial is at the discretion of organizers.

Dear Serbian Wikipedia Checkuser/Administrator:

Hello, I'm sending this message because a suspicious account combination has been found in enwiki on the SPI page above, CU results found more related accounts, and all of them are active in the Serbian Wikipedia. I think local CUs should know about this situation.

The estimated master account is Special:CentralAuth/Newman_berg (w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Newman berg).

And these are the accounts found in the enwiki CU that are also active in srwiki:

Behavior evidence and CU information are explained in w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Newman berg.

I'm unfamiliar with the Serbian language, and I cannot determine if their activities are acceptable to the srwiki community. As local CU/admin, please decide what to do with these users.

I look forward to hearing from you. MathXplore (talk) 23:52, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, we as checkusers accept CU requests only through the email, here. Please send the request there and then all the CUs will see it and we can internally discuss the issue and get back to you. Don't forget to include your email address, so we could respond to you privately. FiliP ██ 06:56, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
